American Apparel is a popular alternative/mainstream retailer that sells t-shirts and shit like that. They are very popular with 'effing hipsters' and blogs like 2 make fun of them bc they are going out of business because they have a factory in America where they pay Mexis 'above market wages' but possibly should move their operations 2 a third world country or something.

Anyways, Am Appy did a 'groupon' deal. From what I understand, groupon is some sort of pyramid scheme/gimimck for people who think coupons are 'helpful' in terms of 'saving u money.' They have a list of email addresses, and every1 gets emailed regional coupons and then businesses are like 'yay. more business, this is a win-win-win situation 4 every1' but deep down consumers are still sad that they are poor and have to 'search 4 deals.'

Recently GAP did a groupon and made $11 million in 1 day [link], so maybe Am Appy is hoping to make 'mad bank.' Maybe this will 'save their company.'

R u going to print out this groupon and take it into an Am Appy, or do u think the cashier will look at u and be like 'wtf is ur deal? R u poor? Ur such a lamestreamer.'

Maybe the point of the gimmick is to introduce the brand to mainstreamers who 'actually use' groupons. Do u support coupons? Did u unsubscribe from groupon emails?
