John Maus is a lofi indie artist, and he is basically in the shadow of Ariel Pink. He is at a point in his career where he has to strive 4 'more than just lofi indie cred' if he really 'wants 2 make a career out of his music career' and trick a major indie label into releasing his album bc every1 blogs about it. That's why he probably made this new video, to prove to the lofi community that he makes 'better videos' than Ariel Pink.

It must be difficult for John Maus bc every writeup of his includes 'sounds like Ariel Pink.' Sorta feel bad for artists that are 'pigeon-holed' in the skid marks of an artist that already defines an aesthetic.
