Pitchfork gives Twin Sister a 7.8. Have they 'made the leap'?

Twin Sister's latest album 'In Heaven' came out on the mainstream indie label Domino Records, so there were mad expectations on them 2 put together a critically acclaimed and/or commercially successful slice of consumer-wave indie. It seems like the Pitchforks gave them a 7.8, which might be 'the 8.4 of yesteryear' as they continue to slide scores down to try to rectify the buzz inflation that plagued us since the buzz monsoon of 2k9. Overall, the review seemed to be 'complimentary'. Seems unfair that they got a 'buzz pan' score based on the Old P4k standards.

Do u <3 their new album?

Here is the standard intro that says they have evolved as a band.

When Long Island's Twin Sister put a picture of a shabbily decorated dollhouse on the cover of their 2010 Color Your Life EP, it seemed like a mission statement: Here is small, intimate music meant to feel comfy and lived-in. And from the pillowy indie-pop numbers to the more stretched-out, soft drone pieces, it was the kind of record that just felt nice to hear. You wanted to cuddle up with it. But then there was "All Around and Away We Go", the slice-of-genius, introverted disco gem that suggested there was more to these guys than just pretty bedroom pop. In Heaven, their debut LP, very much supports that idea. It's a crisp-sounding, nuanced album that highlights all the right things about the band.

Really sorta a ZZZZZZZZ review. I guess they were saying the album is 'just okay' / 'pleasant.'

Do yall think Twin Sister are totally TWEE? Is 'twee' a 'compliment' or a 'diss'?

This type of narrative might skew a little twee for some (and there is an element of that here, for sure) but it's one of the things that gives the band a sense of identity. Also, it's important to point out that they buoy these bashful sentiments with some really outward, bouncy music.

Here is their new video for "Kimmi in a Rice Field". Do u think it looks twee?
