Kanye West seems like a pretty cool guy. He’s rapped over some of my favourite songs, like the whistling song from 2004 and that Daft Punk one. He even hired a few of his friends to wear robot costumes and stand in a pyramid during his Grammy performance. He has a blog, and he wears bandanas. Hopefully he duets with M.I.A. soon, or raps over a Feist RMX or something. It’s sort of a shame that he takes the Grammy’s so seriously. I think he could gain more alternative credibility by aspiring to create an album that landed in the 90% of the blogosphere’s ‘TOP ALBUMS OF THE YEAR’ lists.
One day, we’ll look back and wonder what Kanye’s greatest contribution to society was. Some will say he was a strong producer, others will say that we can all learn from the way he ’showed emotion’ when his mother died. However, it’s clear that his real contribution is the way he executed the ‘Kanye Sunglasses trend.’ The trend itself is proof that his music, fashion sense, and overall aesthetic resonates with the world’s most relevant & forward-thinking demographics.
