the people who hated on this post are fucking pretentious n00bz that never got into good music early enough to see it progress to what it is now... you can't just wikipedia that shit and then expect yourself to become totally in the know overnight...

Anyways.. I would personally take out youngfolks and replace it with objects of my affection, losing my edge is a good song, the quality reflects the time period of when it was made.. when you didn't need much talent.. just good ideas to make it big.. since surprisingly.. good ideas were few and far between in the US in the 2000-2006 era. That song is also the same drum and bass line basically to The Rapture's Echoes (except thier's is faster)

Anyways.. fuck the stupid people who use this blog lingo (alts, carlez, highly rec'd, etc.) seriously.. I think it's funny to use it as a reference to this blog sarcastically (but srsly) but people who actually dedicate thier life to this blog are way to caught up in this hipster bs.

surprisingly.. (actually not at all) PIL has influenced all the dance pioneers just as much as daft punk.

>.<

hipster runoff is a pretty epic self-aware manifesto. maybe that's the reason you can 'choose to appreciate' "losing my edge." are you trying to say people who appreciate dfa are self-aware? its cool that you appreciate dfa, and i like your blog's brand, but this is the first time i feel like you're using another brand to define yours, like your applauding their 'authentic sound' and pointing out the your writing's authenticity at the same time. and by the way, your writing is pretty authentic. i guess i just feel that you're inadvertently pushing a brand other than your own. i don't know whether it's cool or not and how it adds to what HRO is, but i still think your blog is good and cool, and worth checking out on a regular basis.
Also, i saw SMD at coachella, and their set was a bland mash of the boring bits of their songs. between fiddling dials and sliding faders they couldn't get any momentum, and i was disappointed. i think SMD don't have much to offer in terms of 'live' performances, because they are so geeky and lack charisma, and in this instance the technology seriously hinders the music. i also think they should either polish their live act and add a better stage set up like justice, or they should stop following the trend of electronic acts formulating a 'live' rendition of their cd, and just play a kick ass dj set. speaking of branding, if there is an indie-electronic act that is seriously under-branded it is SMD.
anyway sorry for the wack ass post, but you ask so many questions so i thought i'd reply.

Oh and Justice are the new Chemical Brothers...or the Crystal Method...just wait. If they move away from the chopped electro mindfuck that was their bread and butter before D.A.N.C.E. they'll end up with some MSTRKRFT/Nore collab that sounds like a Scion commercial waiting to happen. This indie shit is played the fuck out. Jump ship, get MNML, get blunted and go dubstep if you have to...just bring your over-privileged ass to the party and for God's sake stop dressing yourselves like an 80s babysitter. If you missed out on Berliniamsburg back in the day, sorry - but please don't go headlong into a trend (the assymetrical 80s style) that was played out 4 years ago.

Everyone is getting on the Paris Terror Club, Starter jackets and dunks shit...Chi is starting to see black folk dress like a mix between the Fresh Prince and Big Daddy Kane...find something in the middle and get off the 80s dick. You look like you're playing dress up with your older sibs clothes (not to mention their trends) and it has to stop.

I absolutely hate hate hate this fucking blog..."predated modern dj culture"? You fucking twit. The indie dance scene is like the kids table of dance culture and it barely even scratches the surface of modern djing...and one more mention of "alt" whatever or your "personal brand" (complete with text message abbreviations and "kute" spelling) and I swear to God I'm going to hunt you like the faggy neon alt-animal you are. Sound kewl?
