Can some 1 give me the boy:girl:tranny:ghey ratio of the band members in Hercules & Love Affair?
Have u guys heard of Hercules & Love Affair? They’re disco and they’re authentic.
How do u feel abt them? Can I just call them SCISSOR SISTERS 2.0 without a presence on VH1? (I don’t think that is an insult).
I don’t appreciate them as much as other people do, but maybe I will 1 day.

I read about TIEDYE on BiBaBiDi, and I was intrigued because they are on the ITALIANS DO IT BETTER rcrd label. This label has 2 of my most-played bands of 2k7: Glass Candy & The Chromatics. I used to think GlassCandy/The Chromatics were pretty authentic, but I think things are getting waaay more authentic. You can’t just have a heavy arpeggio and a cute broad with a decent voice singing any more.
Authentic disco is pretty complex, because it can be fun, but at the same time, it can be rlly meaningful. It’s for high-end markets who truly appreciate audio production, musical history, and fitting in. What other authentic disco acts do you listen to?

Hercules and Love Affair is only the one guy (Adam something or other) with vocals from Antony from Antony and the Johnsons every once in a while (that’s his background vocals on You Belong and main vocals on Blind). I think most of these guys were just the people in the “You Belong” video.
Also Mike Simonetti from Italians is supposed to be playing some festival in Chi on the 17th or 18th but I cant find any info on it other than on his blog.

i really liked the h&la album the first time i heard it, and then i listened to it again and didn’t like it at all. weird. like hearing a joke twice or something.
