I was just trying 2 point out how hypocritical it is for whitey hipsters 2 complain that their “culture” has been stolen by whitey mnstreamers when hipsters IN GENERAL have no compunctions about appropriating other cultures @ random when it amuses them. I, for one, have no problems w/ caucasians appropriating rock n’ roll OR Greg Gillis playing mostly “blackish” music (As Carles said in his immortal criticism of Girl Talk’s “Feed The Animals”). The point I was trying to get at (as I explicity said) was that we live in a cultural milieu where EVERYTHING is constantly being appropriated by other socioeconomic groups. Complaining about ppr planes being played in Taco Bell is about as worthwhile (and a lil’ more foolish) as bitching about “whitey” “stealing” hip hop or rock n’ roll, a claim that YOU as a white hipster r obviously upset by. Noone is saying that white ppl are uncreative. Noone is saying that caucasians owe everything to african americans. As you’ve pointed out, cultural exchange goes BOTH ways (ex., Kanye). MY point was that bitching about whitey, or msnstreamers, or WHOEVER “appropriating” some1 else’s culture is hypocritical and dumb. Apparently, you misinterpreted me.
