WE HAVE BAND, YALL.

I am pretty into WE HAVE BAND in the way that any authentic tastemaker should be. I think they mix a bunch of aesthetics that are worthy of my authenticcoolhunting attention. Wonder where they will be after a few ‘interesting’ music videos + effective utilization of the remix economy (import & export).

The song ‘You Came Out’ appeals to me because:

  • it is a mix of automatic + ‘organic’ instruments
  • perceived as kind of lofi/authentic recording process
  • the girls sounds keut/interesting/dancey
  • whistling makes me remember ‘the first time I heard YOUNG FOLKS’ mixed with ‘the first time I heard HOMECOMING’
  • Sounds like it has the opportunity to be a Song of the Blog Year, which u and ur group of friends will remember kind of like ‘the time _____ had that party, and at the time u were listening to a lot of LETSMAKELOVE/SADSADCITY/YOUNGFOLKS/D.A.N.C.E./TEENSRMXes/etc.’
  • I’m just searching for songs to define the eras of my meaningful life, yall. This one might be representative of my transition phase between bloghouse to authentic disco.

The only thing good about this song is the line about going home and turkey basting, because no one does that anymore.

This song is actually pretty fun in a ‘i just wanna get buzzed and hear fun/dancy music’ kinda way. ++I have a feeling someone is gonna make a proper remix outta this (I hope it’s gayoki!_!)

I’m not gonna even both listening to this shit. The black dude isn’t threatening enough to make the song=cred (same problem Bloc Party has). Also, I can’t tell if the girl has AZNitis or Down Syndrome, which was only cool for a week back in Q3 (soo over Sarah Palin) and it looks like she might be the kind of AZN that’s part Nazi (don’t remember which kind that is). It’s almost Q4! At least give us AZNs with quirky style instead of just bad Cat Power hair and extra chromosomes. Finally, whitey looks like the poor version of the singer from Teh Nationalz. DO NOT WANT!

OMG i love the space between the base
its like significant of the time i spent every summer between years of art school. summers spent trying to fit back in with the normal kids on the block before i realized i had an a priori alternative authenticity that they would never understand.

      @.lp.

They're all haters because authentic alt emotion is hate.

Marketers have segmented youth sub-cultures into descrete emotions.

emo–>manic emotions–from extreme happiness to utter resignation; quantum emotional jumps, very abruptly–non contiguous.

goth–> death drive, will to decay and destruction.

hip hop –> me 2 & I wantz (extreme infantilizing)

      alt–> hate (very minimilist)

      mainstream –> perpetual sacharrine happiness.

@ some anonymous “black dude not threatening enough”…. what a c*ck of a comment.

I think its maybe a little recycled but still like it for the now….. + some of the other songs on their myspace are stronger….
