“One Day We’re Going to Live in Paris. I Promise. I’m on it.”

The song “Paris” by the Friendly Fires has been remixed by ‘the next heir to the authentic remixing throne’ Aeroplane.

The song is a powerful one. It’s a love song. It’s about wanting to grow with some one. It’s about envisioning a perfect life in a perfect city and doing your best to get there. It’s about the dream. It’s about being in authentic love.

I <3 2 post meaningful post-metaphorical lyrics that put alternative ideals into words so perfectly. Wish I got to do it more often

One day we’re gonna live in Paris
I promise
I’m on it
When I’m bringing in the money
I promise
I’m on it
I’m gonna take you out to club showcase
We’re gonna live it up
I promise
Just hold on a little more

And every night we’ll watch the stars
They’ll be out for us
They’ll be out for us
And every night, the city lights
They’ll be out for us
They’ll be out for us

One day we’re gonna live in Paris
I promise
I’m on it
I’ll find you that French boy,
You’ll find me that French girl
I promise
I’m on it

So go and pack your bags
For the long haul
We’re gonna lose ourselves
I promise
This time next year will be forevermore

The remix is kinda ‘ridiculous/epic.’ I feel like it is the right sound for an epic alternative love anthem, though.

Friendly Fires Paris (Aeroplane Remix Featuring Au Revoir Simone)

__________________________

I think the original version is relatively conceptually satisfying in a ‘mainstreamish’ post-Rapture Cowbell Percussion kinda way. I feel like if I wuz still an entrylevelalt circa 2k4, I would have listened to this song a lot. (not sure if that’s good or bad).

(Would probably put this on a mix CD for an entrylevel alt girl who u want 2 tug u off.)

Also, the Aeroplane remix strengthens the ‘Au Revoir Simone is better when they aren’t singing their own songs’ theory. Luved them on the “Star Guitar” cover/remix by Shinichi Osawa.

I just hope one day I get to move to a major metropolitan city with an HRO reader. We will live a meaningfully alternative life together.

“One Day We’re Going to live in _______. I promise. I’m on it.”

This is quite poor really isn’t it? All the joy has been ripped away from the original and it’s become a technical exercise is disaffected so-called cool

    it’s pooh

Also, it was the most recent posting on hypem when I pressed played – by the time the track had ended 10 more fresh blog morsels had been scooped up by the great blog trawler and deposited into my browser – thus making Velvet Underground’s – I’m Waiting for my Man more hip than you

Oh wait 4 more songs since I started writing this comment – now it seems that Ben Lee Tucker’s cover of Float On is hippest

no wait there’s a new one

    *sigh*

    when will it all end?

“You should feel what I feel, You should take what I take.”

    Pure genius.

the lyrics is nice but i’m not digging the sound (remix or orig). there’s no post-rapture anthem in there too. my ears don’t get it. at all.

if i want meaningful songs, i’d rather go back to 1977 by ash and listen to angel interceptor and darkside lightside. or like your feature on the postage fockin’ service blog days ago is more relatable. and i’m sick of having so many newer artist come out with so many krappy musik.

young folks. happy together. her space holiday, mew songz. are simpler. the stone rozez.

    crls, u fggt. xoxo.

@skam, sooo understandABLE. will i make it to 35 and realize i dont care? will i eventually decide i have a favorite band just so they can make a “good news for people who love bad news” blunder? will electro take us into the new genre of buttdisco? will the small town i live in always be full of thugs? will i ever get called a FGGT just for my cashmere>? will aids ever make a musical contribution to society? will gaspard and xavier date some models publicly just to walk down the red carpet making out with eachother? will the day i dont have to question an alts legitimate authenticity ever come?

Your song is not bad, but I don t agree with you.
I am french from Paris, and is far to be the perfect city, Tha parisian are not comunicative, they have a face like if they going to comite suicide tomorrow and they are pretty agressive. There is a lot of crinimalites here.
I prefer so much more New York where people have been prety nice with me, open, and there is a lot of good band every where, it s another spirit another energy.
but if you want to become depress live in Paris
