@anony, ia! u were only as alt as yr MacBook/ipod/i phone 4 yrs ago. But now every mstrmAlt has one (or all 3) so PC/Zune r the new Alt.
But not evn! PCs r still 2 mstrm 4 altBros. it doesn’t ~allow them to eggspress themselves creatively w/ photobooth/ upload partie pix from last nite/ run the Rite way~ enuff. so long as Mac fggts continue to feed the apple machine PCs tru Altness will never b.

This post really kind of nails the fundamentals of “alt/punk/indie”. (They are all the same aesthetic with slight sub-differences. Generally they can all coexist in harmony and “get” each other) There is however one fundamental truth that you have to acknowledge eventually and that is the fact that it’s extremely difficult even for the most hardcore alt to truly be independent of the masses. Really your not looking to be independent of a sub-culture, you just want to be part of the one with the least market share. We all love the underdog. Now the problem is now that all the alts are now using Macs and they just don’t feel as cool as they used to so perhaps the PC will be the “new” alt computer… perhaps linux will make inroads into the alt demographic but remember one thing… Ubuntu is totally mainstream to so stay away from it…. maybe even try on the non-Linux systems like BSD or some other crappy one. When it comes down to it you really just need a working web browser… with web 2.0 you don’t even need real software anymore.

@edgar apollo, I try really hard not to imitate carlos but my god you read too much of this stuff and it just slips out. I have had to resist the temptation to use yall now around people I know. So far it hasn’t happened but one day it’s going to slip out, I can just feel it.
