I feel as if this blog (and subsequently Carles) is greatly misunderstood. Now I’m not sure I “get it” either, but I want to point this out at the very least. It seems like Carles is very much a part of, and even embraces the culture he spends so much time making fun of. I call it “being able to laugh at yourself.” He obviously spends 10000000 blog hours per day scouring teh internetz for the newest bands or latest tracks. He runs through party pic sites to find people to make fun of. He goes to concerts (or, ahem, shows) and other “alt” events.

While he loves altdom in its entirety, he is “self-aware” enough to lampoon its excesses. One of its excesses (that is constantly being made fun of on this blog) is people who pride themselves on being more “authentic” or more alt than someone else. While one can’t help but laugh at the sorority girls riding around in their SUVs blasting that new song “Paper Airplanes” by the MIAs, that is still a far cry from being one of these people:

That’s what over half of these posts sound like. If you don’t like the radio show, don’t listen to it. If it makes you stop liking the famous weblog the HIPSTER RUNOFF, then don’t come back. If you consistently read this blog (or found it interesting at any point), then chances are you have an interest in “alt” music. Just listen to the music you like. This blog is funny and posts good music every now and then. Quit hatin.

Congrats on getting a radio show Carles; I hope it will help you on your quest to “find yourself.”
