Seen n e g00d music videos lately?

This is a post about music videos that aren’t on TV, but exist on the internet for alternative people to watch in lil screens on their Macbook screens.

Video: LCD Soundsystem – New York I Love You, But You’re Bringing Me Down

This meaningful music video is actually a guerrilla no wave viral video which was the first 1 ever produced by the DFA Records video intern. With a $1000 budget, they were able to create an easy meme that invaded some of the world’s most meaningful music & NYC-centric blogs in the entire world. At the end of the video, James Murphy creeps out from behind a rock. U should just skip 2 that part, and then go back 2 bed and keep dreaming of having the opportunity 2 ‘love NYC, but have it bring u down’ when u finally get 2 move there. I think Kermit the Frog is a metaphor and James Murphy being the puppeteer is a metaphor about electro music. (But I didn’t go 2 film skewl).

Video: Metronomy – A Thing For Me

Metronomy extends their concept-core brand with this concepty video. This is the kind of video that could have ‘made a big splash in the 80s/90s’, but since it exists in the 2K0s, it will be ‘just another meme’ to most people since they don’t know the difference between art, design, and memes. But yeah, pretty interesting. I would give it an A+ in my visual media course which I am currently teaching at a Liberal Arts College in the Northeast United States.

Video: Beach House – Used to Be

This video takes place in a motel in ‘the middle of nowhere.’ They man and woman from the band are wearing ‘authentically thrift’ clothing. It kind of reminds me of the video an altbag+altbaguette couple would make if they had to ’show their relationship in a 4 minute video.’ They are standing around, not necessarily being interesting, but looking interesting in a 29 year old alt who is still [powered by his parents] kind of way.

Video: The Guy from Vampire Weekend singing some ‘authentic punk songs’

Does n e 1 who reads this blog ‘get’ punk? Not really sure if it’s meant 2 appeal 2 my ears, or if it was just music that ur supposed 2 like only based on what it represents and the contexts in which it is played, as opposed to actually having any sort of aural attraction to the song.

Video: The Jousteeces – D.A.N.C.E. Y.A.L.L. (Live on Jimmy Kimmel)

Remember 2k7? Remember when this meme/gimmick meant that electro+dance music was gonna go mainstream?

punk is alot like bloghouse dance music. Everybody justs wants to cut lose. Its about energy and feeling a connection to other people thats more intimate than what mainstream culture offers you. Excepts punks dont care about trying to look and act like they’re somebody famous. As far as aural attraction goes, punk and bloghouse both have their generic sound. Bloghouse has its generic banger beat and punk has its 4 chords.

thingforme viddy reminds me of the gushers/honeycomb/fruitbythefoot
    [---via80sgenny television commercials]
    era.

If it werent so spacially zany, it could break the millenium boundary and be very relevant for ’space-age’ genre TV advertisements via macbook/ipods or even TV ads for pro-”netwerking” sites like eharmony. Actually i bet it’s ripe enough for apple. probs not eharmz tho.
