What’s the difference between art, design, and memes?

Yall. I’m kinda confused. When I went away to design school, I knew that I wanted to express myself. It’s kinda hard 2. It’s like the way that people consume and interpret information has totally changed. It keeps changing.

DOES N E 1 KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ART, DESIGN, AND MEMES?

I was looking at the FFFFound website, and it made me totally confused.

Is this art or a meme?

Is this art or a viral meme packaged as ‘authentic’ due to ‘relevant commentary on the state of society’?

h8 u Banksy. H8 u graffiti ‘art’ memes.

Is this a marketing viral meme by the Lego corporation, or just an internet meme that I am supposed to marvel at for 3.5 seconds, or art?

Is this art or meme or high priced gimmick art?

Is this architecture or just a meme marketing gimmick?

Is this art or just a viral marketing gimmick featuring Taye Zonday?

I’m just trying 2 design, yall. Want 2 change the world.

Do yall ever feel confused about the media that ur supposed 2 consume?
Don’t yall feel like photography has s000 been cheapened by digital cameras?
Don’t u wish u could live without the internet so u could experience art/memes/design?
Things r getting s0 modern. I always assumed that as things got more post-post-pre-modern, that we’d finally all ‘get it.’ These days I don’t get n e thing.
Just want 2 understand what I’m supposed 2 appreciate in order 2 understand what’s happening in the world, carry on relevant conversations with well-informed people about relevant topics, and be able to process this information in an efficient, valuable manner.
/// NOT READY 4 THE W0RLD ///
//// s0 much information, yall

    when art/memes/gimmicks make me wonder whether they are memes/gimmicks/art, i appreciate it exponentially more than if i just knew ‘this is an art’

    folk/feces art is now the only “true” art (blehhh). art must be made with your hands or your naked body covered in blue paint and nothing else. glue and sticks and ink and shit. if we’re unable to evolve in the society we created, we’ll just have to revert to a time when there were four drawings and two paintings and one song and fucking start over and do it right.
    ha, my co-worker from the “finance dept.” needs to write a paper for an online college course on a recent technological invention that was (initially) developed to help people and not-for-profit. she asked me to ask the internet what she should write about!!!! no lie.
    i feel like how dead people must feel.

    @escher, Tell her to write about what it must feel like to be completely devoid of humanity; at least the rest of us would get something out of it.

    plz. art, beauty, meaning are all subjective. What makes you think someone telling you it’s art makes it art? Labels are labels, make your own.

    @Al, I guess what I meant is that if that lego picture really is viral marketing, if you like it, what’s wrong with enlarging/framing/placing above fireplace and enjoying your interpretation of it. God forbid the overlords of Lego are pleased with their free advertisement.

    @Al, This is true. The only bad art is that which is not authenticly expressed.

    Hmm wondering what y’all think about Wrigleys commissioning Chris Brown to make a top 40 song with their slogan in it… “double your pleasure”… people are being advertised to unknowingly in pop songs… ethical?

    Where does art stop and finish is this art-meme macbook era?

    Does anyone that own’s a dslr is a photographer?

    Does anyone who has a cracked version of Live or Tracktor a dj?

    Does anyone who knows how the use photoshop or illustrator is a designer?

    The questions remain unanswered ?
    The agony remains.

    @Trashman, For the price of a good dslr you can buy a shitload of film…. but you can still take more pictures with the dslr. Does resticting your ability to capture something meaningful increase your chances of doing so?

    THis Differance its that the MEAM is like invented by Richard DWeakings for making feel betterl liek he can live on thru ideas and doesnt have to pass on genettik materiel liek a normla prson just write bks liek whatever and ART is liek invented by aliens as a braintest. ANd desighn is humasn trying to practise for the test btu its also soemthimes to do with just making stuff comfier like when you have a really great vaccuum cleaner handle that’s not art or a meam jesus you guys there are bigger issues like what’s the difference between science and love?
