Indoor Soccer Shoes: Big in 2k10?

In the early part of 2k9, I will probably spend a lot of time ’searching 4 trends that r representative of the next big thing’ in ‘the world of fashion.’ Sometimes trends go away, then come back. I think 2k9/2k10/2k11 will be all about recycling old name brands + personal branding items.

[via lookbook]
The indoor soccer shoe is a relevant choice for bros who want to look like a humble alt (think they are better than bright, bulky Nikes), and still have an attachment to their mildly athletic past. They usually have a set of parents with mainstream doctrines, and the choice of indoor soccer shoes doesn’t alienate their parents’ image of their son like a progressive shoe would.

Indoor soccer shoes are for bros with a lifestyle that sees them float in between multiple contexts: mainstream and alt. The indoor soccer shoe gives them versatility in function and image.
Never trust a bro over the age of 20 who still wears indoor soccer shoes. He is not sure who he wants to be. Or he has a membership at one of the world’s only remaining indoor soccer facilities.

//////////////////
Gimmicks that might big in 2k10
//////////////

Ying Yang choker necklaces

Necklaces that prove you recently ‘went to the beach’ on a family vacation and ‘got to take a friend’

Old brands before ‘alt’ became ‘a lil more self-aware’ (remember when alternative clothing only came in black, white & red ? ///// this is why mallrat-based alts are usually in only these colours)

Looking like Brandon Boyd

I think we are headed back 2 more simplistic free-spiritedness. Kind of like the zeitgeist of a 12 year old bro who ‘just discovered what marijuana tastez like’ and is about to ’see his GPA slip @ high school’, and will enjoy becoming a justified ‘chilled out bro in the world’ who transcends his parents’ rules.

Still trying 2 find myself in 2k9…. I guess some things never change, yall.

    The good thing about indoor soccer shoes (much like keds) is that they are sold for 7 dollars at every thrift store/consignment shop/salvation army/buffalo xchange (although not that overpriced shithole beacon’s closet) and in 2k9 Alts everywhere, due to their alternative career paths [via unemployment] must based their personal brand around what alternative item is most available at “half price.”

    take one stop on the L from BK to the city, right after Lorimer, and it’s like full soccer team’s flooded in, commuting with you all of a sudden. It’s astounding. Said soccer team, then floods out through the much populated 14 Street/Union Square stop, leaving you with the mindset of a rape victim.
    All you wanted to be was ‘different’, by opting for the simple, totally non-ironic yet ironic adi dassler shoe, in a poor way, ‘ you know’; now you’re just part of the gimmick.

    oh, this is so bittersweet! i remember my first and only pair. ’twas the year 2000, i was 17 and beginning my freshman year of college in san francisco. i found a samba coupon and went on an adventurous shopping journey through foreign & “urban” streets so unlike my soCal suburban sprawl. that night, in my new social signifiers (shoes) i took a ghetto bus to see death cab for cutie and the aislers set play amidst throngs of plaid boys with bangs.

    true story. good god.

    @PMC: “Permission”? Lookbook at it as an “opportunity” to take your personal brand to the next level.

    Pros: We get “it:” you’ve been doing it since you were 7, so it’s not a gimmick. Cons: “Trademark dilution” of your authenticity.

    Ok guys, the truth is…….i’m not really a guy. I was hoping that no one would really notice with my hoodie and beanie covering most of my head/face, and also with so many items/clothing on, i thought no one would see my A cup breasts. I got a little defensive/offensive about being shown on a public website, and thought that since its a picture that everyone will be looking at, someone might notice. I’m really ashamed of myself, and i don’t know who/what i am and what my meaning in life is. I just want to play soccer. For you ‘alt’ is life, for me, soccer is life. I live/breathe/dream/sleep to/cry/smile/laugh/yell/speak/hear/taste/see/AM soccer. I just want to be myself. I just want to be a boy, a boy that can be the meaning of soccer. Sometimes, i just want to fuck a soccer ball, but because i don’t want to hurt/pop/stab/lose a soccer ball, i just simply cant. Life for me is so hard. So please, don’t judge me for who i am/want to be.
