Do black people ruin Daft Punk by singing over them?

I remember when I was driving in my Toyota Prius, and I heard the song “Stronger” by Kanye West. At first, I thought it was “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” by the Daft Punks, but then I kinda got disoriented when Kanye West started yelling over it. I had to pull over because I wasn’t really able to breathe any oxygen any more.

Then today I was reading a blog on the internet, and I saw that there is a new singer who is using Daft Punk as her backing track. Not even sure if this broad is famous, or if this is just a mashup, but I’m just tired of hearing my fave songs being ruined.

Video via Eat Skeet

Daft Punk is what ‘made me realize that it was alt to like electronic music’ so just kind of sad right now. Feel like these songs are RUINED and EXPLOITED (will start typing in caps to emphasize emotions).

I guess maybe I need to chill out, and realize that ’sampling’ isn’t that bad. Most of these songs are like 10-20 years old. Need to realize that it is authentic to license samples/give ur song 2 a car company to use in a commercial after a lil bit of time has passed. I guess I should just be happy that samples are probably sold for a lot of money so that Daft Punk can construct new identities/robot suits.

Current Music: Daft Punk – Verdis Quo

@whatwhatinthebutt, Kanye’s entire career is based on his ability to pull great samples of great songs for himself and other artists. On the Graduate mixtape it actually goes through Swan song and all the other songs he sampled on graduation, which was cool. Including that song St. Charlemagne he sampled for Champion about Owlsley Stanley. This used to bother me, but now it bothers me more that he releases shit like 808s… And fuck this girl. Although its immediately more easy to appeal to different crowds if you play a song like this at a party. I’m so conflicted!

You do know that Daft Punk sampled a bunch of artists to create their “original” songs, right?

HBFS sampled Edwin Birdsong’s Cola Bottle Baby etc etc

Look it up on youtube, 90 percent of DP songs are sampled!

I like sample based music, though, so go figure.

LOL this post is priceless. It is true that generic black people(or GBP lol) tend to make things mainstream.

But if Daft Punk stays true then there wont be a problem. Their songs have been sampled for years now so I dont see anything changing in the future.

FYI: “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” was actually sampled from “Coke Bottle Baby” by Edwin Birdsong which is a black man. So it goes both ways.

This whole thing just proves that a good riff can be recycled a shitload of times before people get sick of it.

Kanye’s rip of HBFS was so fucking lazy. He grabbed a HUGE loop of the DP track and just rapped some shitty lyrics over it. Anyone who actually went out and bought it is just encouraging more laziness from other musicians who wanna be like ‘Ye.

At least DP’s sampling of old funk tracks involves some skill, and their use of samples makes something NEW every time.

it’s because black people ran out of music to sample.. 60s and 70s music is unique because nobody does it anymore except maybe cover bands at bars.. then in the 80s everyone switched to drum machines, and it doesnt make much sense to sample drum machines since they still have the sounds. the 90s used up all the 60s and 70s samples, now moving onto 80s samples wait there arent any so you gotta find samples wherever you can. which means taking your latest Ministry of Sound cd and playing with pitch control and writing some raps. all euros are desparate for the approval of american blacks so they are ok with it now, they have enough africans there, they want to collaborate with african americans
