Did yall know that the new iPod shuffle ‘talks 2 u.’
This is a funnie video that ‘makes fun of altbros who listen to indie & alternative music’ on iPod shuffles.
I think that this video is ‘funnie’ because I ‘get’ all of the ‘jokes’ that they make about how zany our modern world is. It seems like they really have a finger on the pulse of technology, youtube humor, musical tastemakers, the musical meme economy, and Apple product humor. This bro is the embodiment of a post-altbro, who graduated from college and was fortunate enough to get a ‘decent job in the city.’ His life is kinda meaningful, but he is still searching for ’something’ [via consumer choices].
I kinda wish people would stop making ‘jokes’ about P4k rankings. If u really ‘understand’ the the world, u would realize that pitchfork rankings are actually really important in sculpting our alternative world.
Just need more web media that ‘makes fun of hipsters.’ More whimsical commentary on modern culture and related topics. Might design a graphic or bingo board or some other meme.
Miss u Hipster Olympics era. need 2 coin a new term for a ‘generation who uses the internet and likes to express themselves.’
How about ‘Generation T’ for when today’s Tweens grow up?

@Johnson, I think it’s good to follow it (which I don’t) but I’m really sick of listening to something and trying to decide if it’s good… if it’s something I “should” be listening to. Really what your doing is trying to figure out how people will perceive you if you “enjoy” it. That’s bullshit. Do you let the TV tell you what to buy? We’ve just replaced on popularity contest with another. In the grand scheme of the music industry pitchfork is NOTHING…. nor is indie music. Where are all these hipsters anyway? I don’t know anyone whos going to judge you by the t-shirt you wear or the music you listen to…. unless you own a coldplay CD.

@pen1sbro, Recognize that phycologicaly you have to be grounded in a certain belief system to stay sane. It’s OK to only listen to indie and wear AA. To deny this is to reject existence and your own humanity. We are human and driven by emotion as much as some of us would like to cast it off. There is no alternative because you can justify ANYTHING as being authentic or not given enough soul searching. The fact that we have the ability to find absurdity in everything including ourselves is proof of this. The essence of alt is to reject any and all denial. We make ourselves miserable for being hypocritical and knowing it but this is still better than deceiving yourself into thinking that you are not.

@tee, Not EVERY alt likes animal collective. And Pitchfork has given high ratings to some real stinkers. I’m sorry but trail of dead’s Source Tags and codes is no 10; not even close…. I’m not sure it’s even a 5. Radiohead is great BUT there are albums that match their best. Does that make Radiohead overrated or other albums underrated?

@pen1sbro, Actually I don’t think I am since I don’t own an ipod, nor do I own any Anco, Radiohead or Sonic Youth records. I don’t own a palestinian scarf, and I proudly own non-ironic nikes; also I don’t bend bills. I do have skinny jeans though!
