People who go to Dan Deacon concerts seem like real bros

Photo via Brooklyn Vegan

I was looking at this picture of a Dan Deacon concert, and it was kinda weird. I expected a bunch of entry-level altbros and female alts in headbands to be in the crowd. However, I feel like his audience has sort of weeded itself out. In this picture you will notice that every bro has one of the following physical traits:

  • a beard
  • glasses
  • balding

I guess in a way, every1 wants to ‘look like their favourite musician.’ If it is a tween girl wanting to look like Hannah Montana, or a bro wanting to look like Dan Deacon, there is a certain ‘kewl’ aesthetic that surrounds a famous person. Think it’s pretty interesting how no ‘entry level girls’ are at the front, maybe cuz the guys in the front might ‘too mature’/'creppy’/'not their idea of a guy 2 randomly make out with at a Dan Deacon Concert.’

The audience is full of ‘getting older’ bros who ‘actually like Dan Deacon’s music. I’m not sure if I like his music. I don’t think it is ‘electro’ even though it is made with electronic instruments. From what I have read, he has a new album out, but I think it probably sounds like his old albums, and that means it is ‘pretty whatever.’

Maybe I should see him live, because I hear he puts on a conceptual show, but it seems like it would be some sort of sausagefest without any twinks, and I’m not sure if that’s ‘really my scene.’ Also wish he’d perform on stage so that people could see him. Think he is ‘trying to be artsy’ or something, but he probs needs to ’sell out’ and hire a female singer or something who is ‘hella sexy.’

Do yall like Dan Deacon, or do you think you would have naively been more into him if u could travel back in time to the year 2002?

That fat dude in the last picture was at the 2008 Popped! festival in Philadelphia. I took so many pictures of him. That guy definitely whipped his wiener out a couple times during Dan Deacon’s set. It was gross but oddly enticing.

@ntreelvlaltgrrrl89, I haven’t heard his music but he looks like some kind of circuit bending geek. Probably only uses linux and his it installed on his cellphone. You can’t tell from the picture but there are serveral people wearing old dot.com t-shirts non-ironicly.

dan deacon is for alt-nerd-bros and unattractive-but-incredibly-alt-chicks. he makes music for people who go to shows to ‘get crazie’ and ‘hop around a lil bit,’ but aren’t cool enough to just see the crystal castles like everyone else. there’s only one deacon in my life, and it’s sometimes spelled with a k.

if the dan deacon is for uggos, if the dan deacon’s fans adapt to his personal brand, then i don’t want to travel back 2 2k2 && “discover” him before the whole “bloggable” “electro scene” latches on2 him

jus want 2 stay pretty…… i dont care if i have to sacrifice 1 gb of bloggable dandeacons mp3s for it …….. id rather “”miss” “out”" on dan deacon than be like invisibleknitbro.

this blog is like that fat kid in film class who talks all the time and thinks he is funny and ironic and that you need to be really intelligent to ‘get’ him, yet everyone does get him, no one thinks he’s funny, and most want him to end his pathetic life and stop wasting precious earth air. fortunately, the internet can bring all these wastes of life and resources from around the world to finger one another’s prostates. please, indie kids, keep trying to be funny and ironic, just remember, everyone in the real world laughs at you when you walk by.

I think Dan Deacon’s music is pretty rad even in 2009, but his Flinstone’s shirt is questionable. Also, doppelganger fans are weird, especially when you consider that DD has a fluffy Aryan beard.

He’s so famous that he gets jetlagged, though, apparently, so I guess lots of people like him?

Dan Deacon / Girl Talk is techno / house dumbed down and pop-ified for lazy, idiot alts…never quite got why in their quest for ‘authenticity’ none of these pasty p4k worshipping morons did enough research to find detroit techno / chicago house aka real good dance shit…well at least that panda bear guy knows his shit. He did sample Frankie Knuckles for My Girls…too bad his fans aren’t interested in digging up the real good shit…
