this post is crap. whereas this gimmick works with some artists, it somehow doesnt translate well with the strokes.
they were victims of the hype created by NME and their image and the title of "saviours of rock and roll" have sadly, overshadowed their music.
is this it still remains one of the finest releases from this decade, and had the strokes remained a little less under the radar of people who think hype is more important than the music, they could have gone down in history as a quality band. this way, theyre seen (the amjority) as the band that was once "the next big thing" then slowly caved under pressure and diminshed into nothingness, with no way to ever live up to the greatness of is this it... the sad thing they might, or haev already, but have been cursed by the hype.
