When will we know that bloghouse has ‘gone mainstream’? [Does Justice remixing U2 mean that 'the world is ending'?]

U2 – Get On Your Boots (Justice Remix)
See post for stream

Grade: 5.639 out of 10 runoffs

Review: I remember when I used to be an altbro in 2k7, I wondered if ‘blog house’/'alt electro’ would ever become ‘good enough’ to morph into ‘modern pop music.’ Feel like I wanted to be a proud father of relevant electro acts, but still feel hostile about these acts ‘going mainstream.’ Not sure if people even really LIKE Justice, or if new markets just have a demand for an ‘electro act that we are supposed 2 kinda deify kinda like the Daft Punks.’

The track is ‘pretty whatever.’ Probably ‘kinda good’ unless u h8 u2/bono, and u will h8 this song. I think my favourite U2 song is ‘Where the Streets Have No Name.’ Feel like it’s ‘really moving.’ Almost as moving as that song ‘With or Without You.’ Feel sad that modern ‘legacy bands’ have to write such ghey songs when they get older. I think Bon Jovi has two really ‘ghey’ songs for middle aged people called “It’s My Life” and “Have a Nice Day.”

Feel weird that these older bros must write these inspirational-ish songs that ’sound edgy’ and ‘overplayed.’ Or like that U2 song ‘beautiful day.’ Just weird 2 me. Wish they’d write ‘vulnerable songs’ instead of ‘rocking out’ with low-level inspirational messages.

Proud of Justice for ‘making it.’ Think that U2 might be the ‘biggest band in the world’ so I think it means that u ‘win’ if u got 2 remix them. It gets you more ‘music meme points’ than remixing some ‘obscure, yet respected within the scene’ indie/electro artist. Think U2 might be ‘trying 2 be an indie band’ now. Hope they give away their next album 4 free, kinda like ‘the radioheadgirltalks.’

I can’t live with or without yall.

@fugly slut, things being so 2ks*** and checking your calendar are really lame ways to be critical of a blog post

I don’t think if mnstrmrs actually listened to Justice they would like it. they would probably say “this is annoying” and then talk shit about their parents

@africa, I totally agree. U2 sounds too “trying to sound more manful for the middle aged cooldads” for me

ok just listened. this is really really really bad.

    worst than friendly fires.

    worse than la roux.

i bet Bono listened and said “This sucks but we should release it anyways because it’ll be an internet meme on HRO. Still, this was a waste of $30,000″

i am a justice fanatic, but this is maybe the worst thing i’ve ever heard from them. it feels so tossed-off. the only real character is in that halftime groove at the start; bono’s lyrics, melody, and delivery are as exciting and innovative as a car commercial. anyways, see yall later. <3
