I was looking at pictures of hotties, and then I ‘got kinda pissed.’ I hadn’t felt an emotion in such a long time. Had been feeling ‘numb’ and shit. But then got ‘enraged.’

I feel ‘fucking enraged’ that some1 would deface my flag like that. I feel like this is what people in Iraq and Iran do whenever George W. Bush makes bad foreign policty.
It rlly offends me 2 see some super model/it-girl wearing our flag as a muu muu to a meaningful music festival. I know that fashion is metaphorical, but I don’t think u should be allowed 2 wear a flag-shirt unless ur American, and unless it is [via Old Navy].
srsly think that this is a metaphor for the economie. Feel like young people are ‘lazy’ and ‘don’t give a shit about the economie.’ This is like Generation Y, hangin out, layin around on Old Glory.
I think that the British flag might actually be a ‘fashion statement.’

I think it’s kewl that even ‘the dark side’ of the world is a lil bit nationalistic. Think that we should limit their levels of ‘patriotism’ so that it doesn’t cause terrorism.
Yall. I’ve been feeling really down lately. Just like ‘fuck everything’ and feelings like that. I decided that if u don’t care about any thing, ur life will never be meaningful. Even though it is cliched, u have 2 FEEL something. U can’t just go through life thinking that everything is a big joke. U have 2 take stuff seriously so that u don’t implode.
It’s okay to take stupid stuff seriously. Sometimes that makes life fun. Think I’m gonna change my ways and rally around America/God/bad ass mp3s/ ‘the scene’.

I remember in Bro Scouts we learned that you have to fucking burn the flag in a sad ceremony/ get yelled at by your Leader if you are the one letting it touch the ground. I remember my friend and I were on ‘color guard duty’ one time and we let the fucking flag touch the ground on purpose. I think this was the beginning of my ‘fuck it all’ nature. Even though I loathe cheap, moronic “These Colors Don’t Run” bullshit, I hate it when people carelessly deface or disrespect the American flag. Other countries do not have similar customs surrounding the protection and honor of their flags; I just think it’s a cool American tradition and wish that people would respect it.

On a serious note, for the people that freak out every time a flag is ‘disgraced’, think of what your country was founded on. I think in this day and age, in a post 9-11 world, it’s easy to forget your humble beginnings. I, myself, am a Canadian and a staunch advocate of free speech. I enjoy a healthy discussion about what that constitutes, whether hate-mongering should be included or not.

Perhaps because I’m separated from your country and educated a bit on the past of North America, I feel obliged to remind you that your country was founded on flag burning. On July 4, 1776, y’all issued the Declaration of Independence, which proclaimed your independence from Great Britain and their formation of a cooperative union. Some silly, rebellious states defeated Great Britain in the American Revolutionary War, the first successful colonial war of independence.
Flag-burning.
If it weren’t for it, you wouldn’t exist. Burn one if you have some statement you feel it would successfully purvey. Don’t burn one if you want to lie on it drizzunk in the sun on July 4th.

I’m questioning your statement about the Iranian woman wearing her nation’s flag, and why you call it “the dark side of the world.” I think it’s a little hypocritical that you say wearing the American flag is blasphemous, but a person from the Middle East or other “dark” parts of the world is a terrorist in the making. What’s your justification, or do you think national pride is something only Americans can have?
I’m curious because in history America has really only participated in foreign affairs when they could make a profit. In short, our revolution was the only one we allowed to happen, and then if another country seeks change that might hurt us economically, we topple them. Why is Middle Eastern nationalism associated with terrorism? You know, there was an American nationalist group that was seriously prone to terrorism. Now what was it called…oh yeah. The Klu Klux Klan.

i don’t own a flag and probably never will, but it does crack me the eff up when all these proud Americuns have faded American flags magnet’d to their cars or show up to campaign rallies draped in red, white and blue. Then these same people go Ape-Sheeeet when someone burns their flag. People need to read the rules regarding the American flag before pretending to get all indignant with the way people are treating the flag.
I don’t see why we can’t also truly respect the flag. Is it too much for all of us to just agree to treat this one symbol with respect? It’s a flag. It’s not religion. It’s not the military. It’s not a political ideology. It’s the American nation. It’s basically the one thing we can all get behind without worrying about politics, etc. It’s a symbol for all of us. How can you not support that?
