@fortune, So I realize it's rhetorical but I'll bite. It's suspected that the brain continues to develop through age 25 (which has a great impact on much of society) however it's also suspected that not using your brain spurs cognitive decline.
THC is a powerful antioxidant which is likely quite good for the brain as long as your not stoned all the time. Few stoners develop neuro degenerative diseases. Of course THC has it's own "side effects" during use.
I'm far more self aware than I wish to be now to the point of making me insane via the inability to mask constant absurdity. At what point does one cut off their own ear?
Maybe at some point I will stop giving a shit in order to selfishly be "happy" in which case it becomes necessary to actively deceive your own mind. But perhaps this is necessary for "good" mental health.
I think my computer has a better chance of becoming self aware than most humans so I really don't spend much time thinking about my ancestors. Honestly how many of your own family members are the sharpest tools in the shed? It's more likely that they are just tools.

I actually am quite convinced this blog is an ongoing experimental novel-meets-blog "coming of age" story that is mostly based on the author's life, but 'set in the present age'.
Just how "John Titor" entranced an entire sci-fi community, "Carles" similarly has the 'self-aware/finding our identity' crowd unable to blur the lines between fact/fiction, his life/our lives, and past/present/future.

I would liken his comments and 'story' telling ability to that of a 4 yr old chimpanzee who had been trained to push buttons which spat out a random word like 'society' or 'feelings', or else receive an electrical shock.
