Trailer Trash Tracys Candy Girl (demo)
Last year in indie music has been kinda weird. There has been an emergence a bunch of bands that sound like they are ‘in a fuzzy garage,’ but I have never really ‘understood’ why I should like them. Sorta seem like a gimmick, like the Vivian Girls, or like they are meant to appeal to older people or something. Maybe I am growing older and this sound appeals to me, or maybe this is just a middle-market product, somewhere between ‘chillwave’ and ‘fuzzy garagey music with ambient ambient female vocals.’ Maybe this is ‘chillfuzz.’
It seems like fuzzy garage music is ’structured very simply’, meant for purgatory alts to ‘bob their heads along to.’ This chillfuzz song by the Trailer Trash Tracys seems to have ‘huge drums’ and ‘a meaningful post-pop guitar riff.’ Seems like they are an ‘actual band’ from the UK who might have an easier time performing live than most chillwave producers. (Do ppl from England know what ‘Trailer Trash’ is, or are they exploiting an American concept?) Not sure if I should compare them to My Bloody Valentine or Sonic Youth or the Jesus and Mary Chain since they seem ’shoegazy’/'vintage.’
The song ‘candy girl’ seems like it could be called ‘haunting’ in a formal review. I wonder if this song could be covered by Feist/Regina Spekty and become one of the ‘top songs of the year’ according to mainstream music critics.

ok, hello, chillfuzz = band too broke to afford proper recording/mixing equipment… if using reason scream out/distort vocals and instruments so it doesnt sound like a 7th grade music project completely.. fuxz givs edge 2 the sound making it sound vintage/legt

This is also the one of the only fuzzy pieces of music I like! Wavves ‘So Bored’ is okay and I like maybe one vivian girls track but the above is really good although listened to their other stuff and wasn’t a-maze-ing.

That sounds like crap. This is the new ’sound’?!? Using a fuzz effect on EVERYTHING?!?! C’mon, that’s just totally grasping at straws, trying to find your musical identity shouldn’t ever involve running every sound through one effect. Just look at t-pain and autotune. Now he’s the laughing stock of the mnstrm hip-hop world. Take it from a recording engineer with some experience under his belt: This sound won’t last for a month before everyone’s ears are fatigued from the white noise on everything.
And the song itself is pretty boring. ‘Haunting’ is the industry word we use to describe music that’s inherently underdeveloped. If the song sounds like it’s missing something, you call it haunting, and then no one asks questions about why the writing is so bad…This song is ’structured so simply’, carles, because these people are not good song writers. Not because they are trying to appeal to the head bobbing purgatory-alts as you said.
Comparing this band to My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, or the Jesus and Mary Chain would be a complete insult to those great bands. Rather compare them to something they actually resemble, like Deep Blue Something, Donna Lewis, or KWS. Just awful…

dont think the band would have liked to be compared to those bands…they are a pop band, and i think they are happy with that. In terms of melody, its amazing…..it terms of meaningless noise, its not like those bands you have mentioned….
