I predict a Haight-Ashbury acid rock revival for the next decade and more of an embrace of bands like quicksilver messenger service, the grateful dead, big brother and the holding company and all the patchouli soaked, sandal wearing aesthetic that come with. Maybe, it is just me and some childhood fantasy, maybe its a crazy fetishization or maybe I’m right. don’t worry too much bro cause if you just chill a little while longer then you will prlly get 2 make a book out of it with a trad media outlet tring to stay relavent and then they will give you some real worls money advance like 10 or 20k and then you can quit doing other shit and focus on real shit and buy a new ipod/iphone/blazer that you can chill with bros with and also go to exec lunches in too and then when the print book comes out it wont sell as many as they thought because they are not e-savy as they think they are and it will only sell like less than the 10k they gave you. but at that point you will have some connex in the biz that you can chill with and probably skate by until girl/kid/job that will be ok even though its based on milking your knowledge of true authentics will take over and you can cruise until you are like 40 or 45 in a scion/prius with perscription raybans and other new clothes you may or may not have had to buy because of yr connex

this doesnt negate the fact that the lyrics are from a real owl city song about riding in a hot air balloon which is the punchline. from what i can tell Ben Gibbard and The Postmen were ‘authentic’ and the Owl City is just ‘fucking gay’. Despite being against being against things, I have no option but to be against Owl City, whose music fucking sucks. Owl City’s “music” is nothing more than a non-bro attempting to be alt via emulating/ripping off The Postal Service, who were never very alt to begin with (except in Owl City’s mind). And who listens to Owl City? Mnstrmrs – jocks and preppy girls and alt wanna-bes. Feel ashamed to be from the same state as Owl City, but I will start my own indie rock band that will become renowned and atone for Owl City’s deauthentification of the “Minnesota music scene.”

This is a disaster.
