Is "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons the worst song ever written?

I keep hearing this song that intros with 'chill guitar strumming vibes', then some bro starts yelling in a Nickelback-wave voice, then dubstep womp womps really intensify the vibe. The lyrics are anthemic, but also as angsty as a Linkin Park song about not wanting to conform to society. After utilizing my 'Shazam SoundHound App', I learned that the song was "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons. The song keeps repeating the lyrics, "Welcome to the new age." However, we've been hearing terrible music for ages already.

I searched the internet for more information about the band and discovered that the lead singer had a mullet. He also bangs on a huge drum on stage to make the performance seem 'more emotional.' As we all know, 'banging on a huge drum' is meant to appeal to festival-core crowds.

What is the deal with this 'massive hit' "Radioactive"? From what I understand, it is supposed to be some sort of modern revolutionary anthem. However, I would consider it one of the worst songs ever written.

From RapGenius:

The first song on Imagine Dragons' debut album Night Visions gives off a revolutionary vibe, but leaves what is being changed up to interpretation. Some argue it is about nuclear war, others say it is about Wall Street and similar protests, and some think it is really talking about the end of the world. Regardless, its a very powerful song that will cause debate no matter what you think it’s about.

It seems like this "Radioactive" song is a real lamestream anthem. Something that entire crowds of people can bang their fists to while feeling as though they are rebelling against society. From what I understand, government & media distrust are mainstream issues that appeal to mass markets.

I guess this song is supposed to be about 'waking up in a post-apocalyptic world.' Or maybe we are already living in poverty [via the other 99%]. Or maybe we are supposed to go to war in order to fight corrupt banks that manipulate our economy and create housing bubbles. Should we fight alongside Imagine Dragons growing mullets in solidarity with the lead singer bro, or should we just enjoy the current themes of popular music as we drive to work?

[Verse 1]
I'm waking up to ash and dust
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust
I'm breathing in the chemicals
I'm breaking in, shaping up, checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse, whoa

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive

[Verse 2]
I raise my flags, don my clothes
It's a revolution, I suppose
We'll paint it red to fit right in
I'm breaking in, shaping up, checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse

All systems go, sun hasn't died
Deep in my bones, straight from inside

This is exactly the type of song that I hate. The type of song that professional Youtubers drive to the desert in order to shoot a tragic 'cover video' for.

I've seen hundreds of local bands take this exact same press photo. How were Imagine Dragons able to tap into the zeitgeist of America?
