Did Rihanna Rip off the aesthetic of M.I.A. & Die Antwoord?

Many web critics and famous twitters 'talked mad shit' about Rihanna over the past week since her video for the song "Rude Boy" 'totally ripped off' the M.I.A. aesthetic. It seems like people want to protect M.I.A. and her perceived authenticity in alternative circles, even though she is a mainstream artist now.

Many music fans feel that Rihanna is unoriginal and only marginally talented, usually using autotune to mask her weak voice. It seems like she has a 'slammin ethnic bod', but is ultimately too stupid/uneducated to develop her own concept. She is a young human, and probably cannot come up with her own concepts.  However, due to her notoriety, she is a viable outlet through which mp3s and merch can be sold.
