Die Antwoord signs 2 Interscope, Officially ‘Mainstream’

Interscope is a large mainstream label. Die Antwoord is a rap group from South Africa that 'went viral.' The mainstream label Interscope 'signed' Die Antwoord, since they don't really have to invest that much 2 market the group.

Can't believe Die Antwoord is the buzziest buzz band in the history of the world:

Die Antwoord became a living meme of unprecedented velocity, propelled into global megawebstardom faster than any act I've ever seen. Ninja tells me that in addition to shaking hands with Interscope, District 9 helmer Neill Blomkamp plans to direct Antwoord's next music video, they'll likely be performing at the Coachella festival, and a film is in the works.

Sort of wonder if Boing Boing is the new Pitchfork, since they basically 'created' Die Antwoord, and they recently debuted the MGMT album art. Wonder if Boing Boing was paid 'mad bank' to blog about this meme.

Wonder if 'going viral' is the only way for new artists 2 emerge in the modern world:

He [Ninja] says Die Antwoord is in LA for the first time. He's joined by his creative partner Yolandi Visser (who's sleeping in this morning, upstairs in the hotel), and their "consigliere" Jay.

"When we did the big meeting with Interscope, Jimmy Iovine was telling me all about how badly their business has been harmed by the internet," Ninja says, sipping black coffee. " I can understand that but I said, 'Jimmy, I want to give you a piece of samurai advice: Become the enemy."

Sorta just want to see progressive bangs, but not listen to their music.

Do yall care about Die Antwoord, or since they are a meme, is it chill to just forget about them + move on to a new meme of the week?
Would this be the same as giving Tay Zonday a record deal?
Will Die Antwoord ever be taken seriously as artists, or will any1 who ever mentions them just talk about how they 'went viral' but are now trying to prove themselves' as authentic rappers?
Was Die Antwoord a forced meme, and should the alternative blogosphere stop 'covering' them now that it is clear that they are a marketing gimmick?
Were u ever tricked by Die Antwoord, thinking they were an authentic meme darling?

R I P Die Antwoord. U were a good meme.
