Does TV on the Radio know how 2 not be pretentious?

TV on the Radio is probably the most cliched pretentious band in the world right now. Sort of like they have the entitlement of Radiohead without the track record or ability to execute memes and have people take them seriously. It is fascinating to watch, bc they are acting like they are in the 1990s or something.

I was looking (above) at their set list. Why is it so pretentious? Why is TV on the Radio 'trying so hard'? Who are they trying 2 impress? Who are their fans? The way they nickname their songs. The 'official band logo at the top.' The two encores. C'mon TV on the Radio. Chill out bros.

I wonder if they know how to 'tone it down.' In an era where it is pretty widely accepted 2 be 'self-aware' and 'poke fun of urself', TV on the Radio would like us to know that there is nothing funny about TV on the Radio.

Check out this 'merch'...

What is it with the TV on the Radio brand that makes their 'merch' seem so pretentious? Like they probably spent 72 hours making sure that this 'merch' matched their brand. Might have 2 get a v-neck.

They also have some weird 'documentary' out now. It is difficult to watch. Must be a mockumentary or something...

I feel bad 4 TV on the Radio because they are being 'so serious' that it is impossible for any1 to take them seriously... Their indie credibility is dying, and they really don't know how 2 'tone it down.' I think that helped them to be 'taken more seriously' than they deserve 2 be taken, but it is sort of weird 4 them to keep generating this type of content

Does TV on the Radio think that they are 'God's gift 2 music'?
Do they need to 'chill out' and 'stop taking their band/music so seriously'?
Are they sort of 'the indie 30 Seconds from Mars'?
Do they still have 'fans', or just overgrounders who think that they are supposed to love them?
R u 'feeling embarrassed' 4 TVOTR?
