4/20 is a sad day in American history--it is the day upon which one of the most tragic school shootings in American history took place at Columbine High School in Columbine, Colorado. While many years have passed, jokes have been told, and the issue of gun control in America has been vehemently debated, it is still a massive American tragedy that highlights societal problems with the modern public education system, communication between parents and their teens, the impact of violent video games on young people, and the depths of loneliness that we can all experience as teens.

However, Tyler the Creator, a popular horrorcore indie rapper maybe have crossed the line when he tweeted in praise of the two shooters, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, claiming that 'those niggas prolly cool as fuck.' Unfortunately for Tyler, he fails to see that there is NOTHING that is cool about killing 15 people, including themselves.

This is one of many uninformed, sensational tweets sent out on a daily basis by Tyler the Creator's twitter account. Every day, over 100k followers will watch his tantrums, hate slurs, and uneducated babble manifest itself by the minute, contributing nothing positive to our indie world in peril. Glorifying murderers and leaders who have committed acts of terror and genocide is certainly nothing new, but it is only a matter of time before the simple, extremist ideas cloud our indiesphere.

While the indie blogs and laggard music magazines will buzz the rap crew Odd Future regardless due to the current infatuation with outspoken African American personalities on twitter, it's hopefully only a matter of time before they decide to put a muzzle on this poo-poo mouthed young man. Who's next? Osama Bin Laden? Timothy McVeigh? The BTK Killer? John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo? Virginia Tech school shooter Cho Seung-Hui?

Generating headlines, sure. Advancing art, ideas, and discussion of the modern condition? No.

It is truly a sad, sad day when 'indie' has let this goblin into our club.
Shame on you, Tyler. Shame on any one who has ever buzzed these horrible humans.
