But it looks like he is trying to 'ride Mad Men waves' and rebrand himself as a classy, vintage, classic man. His new haircut is potentially the biggest new haircut since James Blake's haircut [link], and before that, Win Butler's new haircut [link].

It seems like indie frontmen are doing more to manage their image. They are in GREAT shape, with fresh clothes and wonderful haircuts. Bros with long hair avoid split ends with premium shampoo and trims at high-end-salons.
