It was officially announced on December 27 that Zooey Deschanel 'officially filed for divorce' from Ben Gibbard. This basically means that she didn't want to ruin his Christmas or Thanksgiving by filing for divorce, even though they separated a while ago... now she is gonna 'go after half of what he earns.' Zooey Deschanel has been attempting to build a megalifestyle brand out of cotton products, so it is not surprising that she is gonna try to 'take him 2 the cleaners.' If they had a child, u would assume that she would also try to prevent Ben from seeing it. This is going to get messy, and we will likely have one of the biggest indie divorce disputes in the history of time. Let's hope their imaginary kids know that it isn't their fault...

While Golden Globe nominee Zooey Deschanel's career has hit a high note, her personal life is a bit more bittersweet.

The New Girl actress, 31, filed for divorce on Dec. 27 from Death Cab for Cutie front man Ben Gibbard, 35, according to court documents.

The papers list their date of separation as Oct. 31 – Halloween – and cite irreconcilable differences.

Must have been an extra spooky Halloween... I wonder if Ben Gibbard is raging hard at a bro pad, buying strippers, bangin bitches, and drinkin brew dogs. He deserves it. U have to assume that Deschanel has a 'high priced Hollywood lawyer' who will treat this like the OJ Simpson case and not rest until Zooey's black ass has been emancipated.
