Just saw this youtube movie Where The Dirty Hipsters Are (Wild Things Spoof) and it made me miss the glory days of 2k5-2k7, back when it was s000 funnie 2 make ‘jokes about hipstars’ and other interesting alternative ppl.

I wish I could go back in time to the final year of my Undergraduate Film Studies Program, and make a lil comedy youtube short that ‘incidentally’ ‘goes viral’ on the youtube. I want to make something beautiful that appeals to tons of people, inspiring them to ‘chuckle’ for a couple of minutes, since they ‘get it’, then move on with their lives’. I feel like I am in touch with modern media to accept the redefined standards of ’success’ and find peace with achieving 500,000 youtube views. Maybe I won’t make money from my art any more, but I can still try 2 touch the world.

I like stuff that’s funny cuz it’s true. Whenever I watch hipster-mockumentameme vids, I can’t help but LOL-out-loud, because I totes know all of the characters already, since they mirror real members of my alternative scene. It’s kinda weird how ‘vapid’ culture is, yall… h8 it/luv it/’get’ it. Just relieved that I am me living in our bad ass society. I mean… it has it’s ups and downs…but I am generally happy with where we are.

Sorta miss the golden era of the Viral Vid Hipster movement. I decided to re-watch the Hipster Olympics, and reflect on the massive impact it had on ‘the scene.’ I believe the most powerful art is free-online art, because tons of ppl can see it and share it with all of their friends [via their facebook pages].

Seems like some new ‘hipster’ videos come out, and ‘exist under the radar’, but it makes me wonder just how viral they could have gone if they were made during The Golden Age. They seem to each have their own unique take on things.

Sorta miss ‘Hipsters in Space.’ I hope that the youtube servers exist forever. One day, all blogs will die, and humans won’t be able to read text any more. As the youtube generation continues to mature without reading and writing skills, the only historical artifacts left will be vlogs, videos, and viral videos.

Technology is rlly something to awe at [via being awesome]. So many artists can make beautiful with a limited budget, beyond the Macbook their parents bought 4 them and the HD video camera that they waited tables 2 obtain. It’s great 2 be able to ‘reflect on culture’ so instantaneously at such a low cost. I feel like I am honestly living in the most special era of all time, like every war that was fought for freedom was just so that I could exist right now. I am thankful.

Are youtubes more powerful than real movies?

I saw this video, and it made me ‘yearn 4 the days’ of myspacers worth blogging about, a now-deceased HRO blog gimmick. It’s kinda weird how we’re all trying to express ourselves’, and it seemed like myspace used to be the best way for tweens to do this. U could post tons of pictures, and make ur profile ‘kewl kolours’ and add tons of embedded images of ur favourite shit that represented u.

Then myspace became a ‘graveyard’ of dead profiles, not just because facebook/twitter became more authentic/functional, but as internet-centric humans, we are in a neverending search for ‘the best way 2 express ourselves’ via the internet. Now that all tweens+humans have ‘high speed internet’ and cheap hi-enuff quality videocameras/’cameras inside of their phones’, the ability to show off your brand in video format is something that every1 can do.

Feel like I might need to develop a new gimmick, fresher than both Myspacers Worth Blogging About, and more ‘relevant’ than I Wish They Had Macbooks When I was a Tween.

Sometimes I get the feeling that ‘being alt’ is just some sort of game. Like any1 can dress up to look alt, if you just shop at the right stores, or if you wait 1.3 years for Hot Topic to sell ‘what seemed alt 2 years ago.’

Should I buy an expensive hair iron?
Should I buy a zany wrist band?
Should I buy a Palestinian Scarf?
Should I buy a time machine and live in 2k7 forever?
Should I draw ‘blood’ running down my nose to make ppl think that I just did ‘a shit load of blow’?

Not sure who I am. Might be growing older. Might be losing touch with the tween generation. Seems like it might all just be a game of ‘fucking dress up.’ Not sure if ppl even really like music, or if ‘enjoying music’ is just aligning your personal brand with shifting aesthetics over time to represent ‘personal growth.’ Not sure why I like what I like. Losing it. Losing everything. Honestly don’t even know what the best album of 2k9 is.

Is it no longer authentic to be ‘alt’?
Was ‘alt’ just some sort of ‘defense mechanism’ 2 keep from feeling like ‘just another brick in the wall’?

I just got done watching this bro ‘cover’ Grizzly Bear’s hit 2k9 anthem ‘Two Weeks’, and I couldn’t help but wonder if this bro has single-handedly proven that we no longer need the Grizzly Band Bears as an alternative resource of indie music.

When I think of Grizzly Bear, I think of ‘pleasant tunes’, ‘tons of harmonies’, and ‘a high production value.’ It seems like this bro has ‘outdone’ the actual band Grizzly Bear, since he was able to produce all of these by himself in his living room. Most alternative people will eternally remember ‘Two Weeks’ as the catchiest song of the year 2k9, but now we will remember it as being performed by some bro in a living room (who most likely attended some sort of gifted and talented school 4 the arts).

The modern world is a beautiful place, where one bro can buy multiple instruments, musical production equipment, and a lil viddy cam in order to outshine an indie pop masterpiece. While we often focus on bands which have established brands, we fail to see that sometimes magic moments can come together on a d.i.y. budget. Perhaps the future of indie music will not go down the same road as mainstream music [via over-reporting widely known band brands until hollow artists are created], but instead we will embrace individual moments of brilliance and musicianship [via the bro playing an xylophone/drums/singing harmonies].

Is Grizzly Bear still a valuable indie resource or has this bro rendered them obsolete?
Do u think that his bro should ‘join a band’ or is it 2 difficult to work with other ppl?

Hey yall. Went away to design school…had 2 take summer school because I needed to learn the Fundamentals of Art History and Photoshop. Fortunately I met a few bros who I have a lot in common with. We love music, design, and youtubin’. Know it’s not much, but I think it’s good to stay creative.

Decided to make a video. Do u like it? Glad we all have the same personal brand of ‘bros who are zany and possibly listen to mightmightybosstones/blink182/Tom Green ‘bum bum song.’

Dorm life is chill. My parents didn’t cook much, so I’m not missing any food. Getting used to sharing space with some1. My roommate is a real mainstreamer. Going to talk to my RA about changing my roommate. Hopefully I can pull a double-swap with a bro who I have a lot in common with. Every nite would be a sleepover, and we could play chill music while we study instead of having to use headphones.

Feel lucky to have to take summer school. Probably gonna have a ‘core group of friends’ before every1 else gets here. so I’m happy 4 that.

I have been listening to some of 2k9’s most relevant artists/songs, including “Cheerleader” by the Grizzly Bear. I think that the song is ‘chill’ but I think that in our new era, u can always find a way to dance, even if a song is sorta conceptual/chill. I am not sure what this bro is all about. I think he might be one of those bros who has a post-post-pre-ironic internet personality, just trying to be ‘a think piece’ on the internet 2 set himself apart from ‘every other loser with a mnstrm facebook profile.’

Was trying to go on youtube, but everything was flipped upside down. Thought my computer was fucked up. Took it into an Apple Store for a Genius(TM) to look at. It took him a while 2 figure it out, but apparently youtube is playing some sort of joke because it is April the 1st. I wasn’t actually born in the USA, so I didn’t know that today is a day that u play jokes on people.

Feel kinda sad that youtube went so far ‘just to get a laugh’ without realizing how they could alter the reality of millions of people for days and days. Kinda feel sad about seeing important video memes, historical events, and miscellaneous videos that ‘mean’ something to me/the world/Americans/every1 upside down. Kinda feel like they ‘are trying to say something’ about society [via metaphor].

sad that youtube made me feel like an idiot. made me waste gas money going to my local Apple Store. every1 there laughed at me. felt like a real loser.
