I remember a long time ago when the Teenagers were remix gods, they had a remix of Au Revoir Simone’s song “Fallen Snow.” Can’t believe history is repeating itself, yall. I feel like I’ve been on the internet for a long time, but it seems like I was listening to teens rmxes just yesterday. Wonder if music has ‘grown’ or ’stayed the same.’ Wonder if bloghouse is ’still alive’ or ‘dead 4ever.’

I listened to the latest Au Revoir Simone album, and I think it is ‘better than their last 1.’ I still think they are just some sort of keyboard club marketing experience for entry-level alt females, and a product for altbros to listen to when remixed by authentic electro producers [via Aeroplane and Shinichi Osawa].

Do yall like this Teenagers remix? Might put this and the original version on mix CD for girl who I am over-aggressively trying 2 date even though she is not smart enough to realize why my personal brand is more authentic than any other bro in my local scene.

I ‘feel excited’ about the Aeroplane remix of this song [via viral video teaser]. It seems like a thick-ass banger. I can’t wait to illegally download it and put it on my iPod nanoTouch.
Aeroplane seem like chill bros who just throw down authentic electro tracks. I feel like it is important for electro artists to establish themselves as ‘coverable’ artists by the mainstream internet magazines and blogs. This is usually done by remixing popular indie artists. Popular indie artists will only select u 2 remix them if you are uplifting/authentic/have a high production level. Can’t believe the remix economy has grown so much yall. Feel like it’s a blessing and a curse.

Can’t believe Fred Falke is getting s0 many remixes lately. Do yall think there is a point where an electro remixer bro needs to say ‘too many remixes, yall’ or should they just apply 1 formula to as many remixes as possible, even if the song ‘doesn’t turn out that great.

n e ways, this is a meaningful 5 minute DJ mix by Aeroplane. Used 2 think that Aeroplane was just 1 bro. I think that this is a pretty meaningful mix. Reminds me of my glory days as an altbro. I think the highlight of this mix is a part where they play the lyrics “1 Day we’re gonna live in Paris — I promise, I’m on it” and it reminds me of meaningful times.

Sort of think Aeroplane is the new _______.
Just trying to get back to basics/back to my roots as an mp3 blogger.

The song “Paris” by the Friendly Fires has been remixed by ‘the next heir to the authentic remixing throne’ Aeroplane.

The song is a powerful one. It’s a love song. It’s about wanting to grow with some one. It’s about envisioning a perfect life in a perfect city and doing your best to get there. It’s about the dream. It’s about being in authentic love.

I <3 2 post meaningful post-metaphorical lyrics that put alternative ideals into words so perfectly. Wish I got to do it more often

One day we’re gonna live in Paris
I promise
I’m on it
When I’m bringing in the money
I promise
I’m on it
I’m gonna take you out to club showcase
We’re gonna live it up
I promise
Just hold on a little more

And every night we’ll watch the stars
They’ll be out for us
They’ll be out for us
And every night, the city lights
They’ll be out for us
They’ll be out for us

One day we’re gonna live in Paris
I promise
I’m on it
I’ll find you that French boy,
You’ll find me that French girl
I promise
I’m on it

So go and pack your bags
For the long haul
We’re gonna lose ourselves
I promise
This time next year will be forevermore

The remix is kinda ‘ridiculous/epic.’ I feel like it is the right sound for an epic alternative love anthem, though.

Friendly Fires Paris (Aeroplane Remix Featuring Au Revoir Simone)

__________________________

I think the original version is relatively conceptually satisfying in a ‘mainstreamish’ post-Rapture Cowbell Percussion kinda way. I feel like if I wuz still an entrylevelalt circa 2k4, I would have listened to this song a lot. (not sure if that’s good or bad).

(Would probably put this on a mix CD for an entrylevel alt girl who u want 2 tug u off.)

Also, the Aeroplane remix strengthens the ‘Au Revoir Simone is better when they aren’t singing their own songs’ theory. Luved them on the “Star Guitar” cover/remix by Shinichi Osawa.

I just hope one day I get to move to a major metropolitan city with an HRO reader. We will live a meaningfully alternative life together.

“One Day We’re Going to live in _______. I promise. I’m on it.”

When are there too many remixes? Does too many rmxes take away value from your product? Is it shortsighted to think that ‘the more rmxes, the better’?

[Where connections = remixes]

I rlly like Cut Copy, and all of these authorized remixes by artists who are relevant/worthy of remixing them, but as a consumer, it is natural for me to want a new product.
“Hearts on Fire” already has rmxes by:

Knightlife

Joakim

Holy Ghost

Midnight Juggernauts

Damage

(some1 else?)

Should there be a limit on the number of remixes that can be done on one song? I’d say 3.5 is a safe number, but usually you should have 1 great dance remix, and an additional banger or ‘concept’ remix based on ur band’s brand. If u worked for a major independent electro indie record label, what would u suggest during a brainstorming session?

[MP3]
Cut Copy Hearts on Fire (Aeroplane Remix)
