In Search Of... A Personal Brand

"Just when you thought this guy couldn’t fit any more subcultures on his body he stuffed pirate in there at the last second."
-SBTVC, 2k8

The Purgatory Alt is stuck in no man's land, with no obvious personal brand to implement. He is stuck in purgatory, frantically grabbing at what he perceives to be indicators of being affiliated with a 'relevant subculture.'  Such as:

  • the Agyness Deyn Top Hat.
  • anti-'Nazi corporate logo'
  • Punk denim vest
  • Camouflage shorts
  • Baseball pants
  • Miscellaneous altSkateboarding Sneakers
  • Grandma scarf
  • 'take me seriously' facial hair
  • Hook + fingerless gloves

The truth is, we are all searching for the best way to represent ourselves. We just want people to 'get' us without having to talk 2 us. We're all the same, yall. No matter what we choose to wear.  Should I give up my well-defined ALT personal aesthetic and search for a 'new representation' of 'me'?

Robin Hood: Prince of Alts

I have always wondered what a modern-day, alternative Robin Hood would be all about. It's good to know that he wears Doc Martens, wears Agyness Deyn top hats, and has man bangs, just like I envisioned. But I wonder what his 'moral code' is all about.

But srsly...does n e 1 miss the era of the Belt Tuck?
