Review: From what I have ‘internet researched’, DESIRE is a new sound project utilizing the Johnny Jewel + 1 female structure. These bands essentially rely on the high level italo disco core production capabilities of Johnathan Jewel, and hope that the female is ‘marketable’/'has a sexie dreamie voice/look.’ It can take a while before these bands ‘grow into a HIGHLY BLOGGABLE act’, but because you get to familiarize yourself with their b-sides and early work, u get to ‘go on a journey with them.’ I guess it is important for ur early songs to ‘actually be good’ or ‘achieve an aesthetic,’ though. Remember when authentic disco came along towards the end of the bloghouse era? Kinda feel like authentic disco might actually ‘just be around forever.’

Think that this song is ‘pretty good’ and ’shows promise.’

One time I asked which 1 is better: Glass Candy or Chromatics?
Yall. Just found out about an exciting new subgenre called ’space disco.’ I think it is in the Authentic Disco family, except the songs are ‘a little bit more spacey’ and sort of wander for a little while. It’s exciting though. Love learning about new terms that encapsulate what I’m listening 2, kinda like the first time I heard the word ‘indie’ in 1992.

Appreciating DFA makes me feel more authentic. Like I appreciate music on a higher level than all of the ‘typical bloglectro trash’ that has corrupted our youth for the past 12 blog months. Might even start to appreciate YACHT, but I haven’t made up my mind yet.

Should I like Yacht, or should I wait til they have more songs that were produced at the DFA HQ?

(Should I start 2 crush on the girl in Yacht? She seems kinda kute & attainable & ‘not weird’/'moderately in touch with reality’ unlike most HRO it girls. Just want an it-girl to settle down with, yall)

N e ways, here is a song by RUNAWAY that I feel comfortable aligning my personal brand with since there is 0% quirkiness and 110% authentic disco.

[MP3]
Runaway Brooklyn Club Jam (Brennan Green’s Version)”

I have heard the Justice & Soulwax remixes of their songs, which were generally underwhelming (sorry–maybe just a lil bit too conceptual 4 me).

However, I think the authentic-disco-remix-aesthetic does a great job of enhancing their song “Of Moons Birds and Monsters.” While MGMT’s ‘psychedelic’/retro/southern-rock/however-they-have-been-marketed aesthetic has sort of led me to believe that they are sort of like ‘the new Of Montreal’ where you don’t understand why they are GOOD, but a lot of people would tell you that they are GOOD/lots of people get over-excited about their concert/they eventually become a Top 10 ‘indie’ band that music festivals MUST HAVE.

n e ways I like this RMX. <3 HOLY GHOST! <3 Are they the new MSTRKRFT cuz they can ‘fix’ n e song?

I remember when I wrote abt Glass Candy vs. the Chromatics, and I feel like I’m gonna spend my whole life trying to figure out which 1 I like more. Both of them have their moments (kinda like life).

Yall I’ve been listening to so much authentic disco in 2k8 Q3. I wonder if authentic disco is the new BLOGHOUSE or if authentic disco = blog house.

This song is pretty heavie/thick.

I feel like AUTHENTIC DISCO is the only ‘faggy dance music genre’ that every1 feels comfortable appreciating these days. Whether it’s the electro-bloghouse-authdisco act GLASS CANDY, or the P4kcore+authentic disco acts HERCULES AND LOVE AFFAIR or THE CHROMATICS–these acts can be legitimately appreciated by entry-level alts & 38 year old music critics for the same reasons.

I think people feel like they can appreciate authentic disco because it’s more meaningful than blog house/they think the ‘disco sound’ has had a relevant impact on society+music history. The thing about modern authentic disco is that I am not ‘blown away’ by it, but I am strangely drawn into aligning my personal brand with it.

It’s sort of like wearing a ‘retro’ jersey/baseball cap of a formerly authentic sports team to prove that you are a ‘real fan’ of what sports are ‘truly all about.’

Gregg Gillis will wear this retro hat from his hometown team in 2k10 when mainstreamers start to accuse him of being ‘too mainstream.’

****RELATED AUTHDISCO MP3 *****

I wonder if Fan Death will be considered authentic disco enough to start getting some m0re mainstream ‘web magazine’ coverage if Hercules and Love Affair stop generating enough tour dates to keep blurbing about.

FAN DEATH: if they make more songs, can HRO spend a whole month talking about how HOT they are?

Fan Death already has conceptual ‘web’ art, much like Crystal Castles’s faceless promo pix. Does ur startup myspace band have conceptual web media?

BigSterryBro says that THE GOLDEN FILTER is a project by a pre-existing band. Discodust says that the GOLDEN FILTER = ‘the new Little Boots.’ I just want 2 know the truth–why do bl0gbands have 2 b s0 mysterious? I would put this track in the emerging genre of authentic disco.
