Concerts + Technology = A Better Concert Experience?

Sometimes I wonder
what the world was like
before God invented digital projection technology
and ‘enhanced’ the shows of some of my favourite bands

Can’t believe there was a time
when bros didn’t have access to digital cameras
video editing software, The Adobe Creative Suite, and miscellaneous ways to make ‘trippy visuals’ that may or may not
‘fit’ with the band’s music.

Feel ‘massively relieved’ that bands can ‘perform in the dark’
with accompanying ‘visuals’
that add to my ‘concert going experience.’
Wonder if Anco would ‘be as good’ without ’sillie visuals’
wonder if u could still ‘blaze’ and go to a ‘pink floyd laser show’
without technologie.

Can’t believe I am ‘living in the future’
in a place where people can ‘read my thoughts’
almost instantaneously
while I am any where in the world [via twitter]

Wonder how old concerts were
back when it was just ‘dumb dudes playing guitar’
now we don’t have to focus on bros
and can focus on ‘a 3d experience’

Damn.
‘the future is now’

Do yall think technologie makes life/art/music better?
Or does it ‘cover up’ the flaws in some of ur favourite experiences?

The Alternative ReBranding of Pepsi Products

In the future, product packaging will be ‘minimal’ (kinda like a tumblr), and vowels will be omitted from brand names.

All bottles of soda will look to include a ‘circle’ where ever they can. Circles represent life, unity, oneness, and great taste, and fun, and other deep stuff.

I <3 MTN DW, yall. Kinda wish it was named “MNTN DW”, though.
Maybe I can get some with my BRKLYN Pizza and it will make my life a lil bit more mnngfl. (meaningful)

BUT SRSLY, isn’t there something a lil ‘mysterious’ about the mist in Sierra Mist? I luv how typography can truly ‘express’ the essence of a product

Hopefully in the future, all authentic alternative people will look like they are in a Promotional Photo for a corporate advertisement. Kinda like how this broad looks like she is modeling the new uniform for Chili’s new brand in 2k9. Can’t wait to be served by beautiful women in bow ties, yall.

Remember when the Animal Collective album art became the most bloggable/blurbable/meme-able cover art in the history of the Music Industry? I wonder which mainstream artist will contact the AnCo designers to ‘design a Magic Eye’ for their upcoming release (for viral buzz blog marketing purposes).

Here’s a mashup of Magic Spells & Starlett Johansson by a group called Mystic Mountains. It’s pretty alright, plus they know how to make GIFs. When it comes to marketing campaigns, I suppose making a mashup of two highly blogged about bands is way more cost effective than buying a banner ad on Pitchfork.

Let’s be REALISTIC

Illegal Art, you know, the label that Girl Talk is on, has a new release today. REALISTIC drops “Perpetual Memory Loss.” It’s more sample based music that challenges the restrictions of copyright as interpreted by those who usually interpret the law.

Realistic is a James Towning, a musician and graphic designer, currently working in Manhattan as a motion-graphics designer. Do you think Illegal Art recruits non-music making professionals on purpose? Remember when Gregg Gillis (AKA Girl Talk) used to be a biomedical engineer? Working with young professionals must be more reasonable than trying to promote hollow kids in a ‘fresh band’ with not-so-innovative music.

Here’s the official rundown on the album:

Realistic’s third album Perpetual Memory Loss will be released by Illegal Art on October 23rd, 2007. It features sixteen tracks of intricate sample-based compositions– a beautifully sophisticated celebration of found sound, recorded media, technology, and electronic composition.

So for people who want oversimplified descriptions, it’s kind of like Girl Talk, the Books, The Avalanches and some other sample based music. It’s definitely worth blogging about. The whole album is available to stream here.
