How do u deal with ur parents being super rich?

Took this picture in my parents' private jet. I am considering taking it down from facebook before I go to college so that I seem like a 'normal kid.'

Photo via lookbook

I have always wanted a normal upbringing, where I would have a healthy mix of 'earning success', along with some lil boosts along the way of having 'nice shit handed to me.' Unfortunately, as I have grown older, I have had to rely on the connections of my parents along with their financial support more than I would have liked to. It definitely changes the way that authentic people look at me. Most people can't buy whatever they want and can't do whatever they want [via financial constraints].

They think that I live in some sort of dream world, and that I'm not appreciative for what has been given to me, but I am actually very appreciative and very humble. I have problems that they can't even relate to. I am rlly worried that when my parents die, I won't be able to stay as rich as I am now. I feel like there is something inside of me that wants to make a lot of money so that I can be 'double rich' and just live in Manhattan or something. It would also be cool to marry another rich person, then we could pool our incomes and give money to 'the arts'/'innercity schools.'

It's hard dealing with social perception and class issues. I wish people could realize that rich ppl are 'real people' too, and that we want authentic human connections as much as other ppl. There's more to people than 'how much money they make.' Wish people could see all the colours of the rainbow, instead of just 'green' [via metaphor about money].

R u 'rich'?
do u h8 'rich alts' who buy 'designer shit'?
Would u trade ur 'normal childhood' for a $100K boost in ur parents' income?
Did ur parents make/lose a lot of money during ur childhood?
R u afraid to fly in a private jet because of the increased risk of crash?

do u think that 'money' is 'bullshit' or 'what makes the world go round'?
Is it hard to form authentic connections with alternative ppl who have had 'everything handed 2 them'?
Is there such thing as an 'authentic upbringing'?
r u a 'private jet alt'?

Did yall take the SATs? This graph shows what kind of music u like based on ur scores.

Yall. Did yall take the popular college entrance exam 'The SAT'? Kinda hard, so I looked for an art college that didn't require them. I was able to build my own curriculum + cultivate meaning from my college experience.

N E WAYS....
I recently saw this internet graph meme, and it sort of charts what type of music u like, based on ur SAT score. After the graph, I posted statements which are not assumptions, but actually facts.

  • Black People are 'hella Stupid'
  • Gospel is for dumb people who believe in 'God'
  • Power pop and post-punk are for people who go 2 community college
  • Most people who go to top 5 universities listen to Bob Dylan, Guster, and U2
  • Radiohead is 4 smart people who 'get' the world
  • Poor, dumb white people who listen to rap are also stupid
  • If u listen 2 Third Eye Blind, u did well on the 'english section' but not on the math section
  • Outkast is a band 4 every1
  • Black people h8 U2 and the Counting Crows
  • The Counting Crows are for smart people, therefore Gen X is the smartest generation in the history of the Earth
  • People who think they are smart because they listen to Jazz probs aren't that smart
  • Tool is for people who think they are deep, but are probs just another 'brick in the wall.'
  • The Shins are smarter than Phish
  • People think they 'appreciate' Jay-Z on an authentic level, but they are actually dumb so u shouldn't take them seriously.
  • Kanye West is the same as Techno
  • People who listen to Ben Folds 'think they are smart' but are kinda dumb about everything else in lyfe, especially bands that they think are 'good'
  • Old people listen to Oldies, and are therefore DUMB
  • In the future, I will only listen to Counting Crows, Radiohead, U2 and Guster

N e ways. did yall take the SATs? Did u notice any patterns amongst people who take them?
Do yall think it's fair that every1 has to take the same test, even though we all come from different backgrounds? Wish they would evaluate things like Street Skills, or 'being alt' or had an 'art section' and stuff that came more natural to me.

But srsly... are AZNs the 'master race'?

"Housekeeping." [Read this title in a derogatory Mexican voice.] (NSFW)

It's kinda unfair how some people are born in2 situations which they can't control. For instance, when these two people popped out of their mother's wombs, their lifepaths were already set. One was destined to be a housekeeper at a high end hotel. The other was destined to be a girl who took n00d photos and railed dudes. I'm not sure which life path I would want. While one is a little bit more priviledged and means I would have to work harder, the other life option might make life a little bit more meaningful. The harder you work, and the less that is handed 2 u [via silver platter], the more meaningful your life probably is.

(Wonder how my life woulda been different if I wasn't middleclass/uppermddleclss when I was a kid? Would my perspective of the world be ttly diff or the same? Or would I have a 'chip on my shouldr'?)

There's just s0 many ppl on Earth, yall. Kinda feel 'blessed' that I have an opportunity to be the only me on this planet. It's a privilege, and I respect the process of choosing my authentic career and forging a meaningful personal brand around it.

Should I start reading books abt how my life is special & how I can do whatever I want?

Should I start going 2 church in basketball arenas to be 'part of something bigger than myself'?

Should I become a party promoter/positive ChristianBro? Should I stop being a trivial electro producer and start dressing like a bagmainstreamer who srsly plays the acoustic guitar and wants to 'make it' as a Christian band?

VIDEO: Bill Murray reads poetry to despondent / disenfranchised Construction Workers
</embed>

I am not really sure what this meme is all about. I think some poetry foundation is building a new facility, so they brought Bill Murray in, and made him read poetry to the people who were building the place. I feel 'conflicted.' The alt internet user in me wants to say "this is totes kewl. Bill Murray is the best. Loved him in Rushies/Tenanebaummies," but then the human in me gets sad, thinking about construction workers. I feel like I am 'making a huge generalization', but I associate them with 'being uneducated' and having to turn to specialized low-level labor to earn a living, so this video sorta represents the clash in career paths / life decisions / class issues / social struggles.

Are 'construction workers' smarter than college graduates because they didn't blow $40-160K on a college education [via student loans]?

It seems like the videographer must have been really in touch with Wes Anderson cinematography, because the 'space' on screen seems really 'perfect.' Straight from a Tenenbaums scene.

Do u think they know who Bill Murray is, or do they just want to 'get back to work'?

Does Bill Murray's 'charm' / charisma work on every1, or just rich, cultured ppl?

Do u think the construction workers 'gave a shit' about indie actor Bill Murray reading poetry? Do they have the skills to 'interpret' an Emily Dickinson poem, or is she 'a crazy ass bitch that no1 can understand'?

Do u think it was unfair to involve the construction workers in this internet meme, or did it make them feel like 'part of something special'?
Is 'construction work' the new authentic alternative career?
Do u know how much money construction workers make per year?
Worried that I will never be happy. Wish I had a simple life, and a specialized, valued set of skills.
Is Michael Cera the new Bill Murray?
Should I re-invent my construction job by taking on serious/quirky indie construction projects?
Did this video make u excited about poetry, or get u depressed about social isssues?
