HIPSTER RUNOFF

I just saw this trailer for a new Sufjan Stevens documentary called Crooked River. Apparently, Sufjan Stevens has a 'childhood friend' named Kaleo La Belle who made a documentary abt Sufjan going back 2 visit his 'deadbeat dad' who has apparently inspired tons of dark feelings within Sufjy and his brother Marzuki. Maybe they h8 him because he named his kids "Sufjan" and "Marzuki."

The film, directed by childhood friend La Belle, stars Sufjan and his brother Marzuki as they take a trip from New York to Michigan to see their father who, at the time of filming in 2006, they haven’t seen in years.

I wonder what it is like 2 show up 2 see ur dad who u had broken ties with, and u have a video camera, and ur like "Nah dad it's cool. I'm just shooting an indie documentary abt emotions and feelings, so you have to understand that as an artist, I am making this 4 all of humanity, not just u + me."

Feel like Sufjan should thank his dad 4 bringing so much pain and darkness in2 his life so that Sufjan could be inspired to write tons of hit albums and mp3s. If meeting his dad helped him to write the album "The Age of Adz", then I kinda wish that he had never met him so he didn't make an electro album and still made vulnerable ass banjo songs.

Just watched this 'preview/teaser' for a documentary about HIPSTERS. It seems like some altbro bought an HD camera, travelled to relevant cities across the United States, and interviewed people who 'looked alt', then went home, got on his iMac, edited this movie together, and said 'Hey yall made a documentary', uploaded it to vimeo, then no1 is gonna see it.

Not sure if I would 'watch' this documentary, unless maybe I was between 12-19 years old and I wanted to know more about my alternative social identity. Really tired of ppl trying to ask 'WTF is an effing hipster? H8 them so much' and trying to sell it as some sort of original cultural insight.

(Note: when Spider Man says "I don't fucking know!" did yall notice the documentary bro mouthing the words at the exact same time [via paying him 2 say that]?)

Really h8 this modern era of self-important documentaries [via the post-Michael Moore / Morgan Spurlock era]. Just like 'gonna make a movie where I turn myself into a character that proves a point and call it a 'documentary' even though I just look like a bro with a stick up my butt the whole movie. Do u think some people should just 'strip naked' and look at themselves in the mirror forever instead of using a video camera to capture 'the essence of their lives'?

Just watched some other 'teaser' / 'trailer' that used Animal Collective.

Not sure what the deal with this video is. The description says "NYU TSOA Summer High School Filmmakers Workshop", so I have to assume it was created by some high schooler who went to a summer program 'in the city' at NYU, and was inspired by all of the effing hipsters to make a 'documentary' abt 'effing hipsters.'

It seems like it is just footage of interviews with 'young people' who have 'opinions on hipsters.' Not sure if they are sociological/cultural experts, or just people who h8 their status in the modern world, and have 'massive disdain' for 'hipster culture.'

Not sure if I learned anything new. Feel like this would have been premium content in 2k6, but I'm not sure if High Schoolers were even alive back then. Sorta just wish I had enrolled in a relevant summer school program when I was in my post-tweens so I wouldn't have ended up a 'worthless 20something.'
