Easter Egg's Lemonade 07

I think it's great when artists, bands, DJs, or whoever are willing to talk to their fans on social networks.

Check out this exchange between me and Portland's EASTER EGG.

I can't count how many times I wrote the same thing on Justice's wall and never got a response. In the world of Web 2.0, artists need to make the time to brand themselves in comment convos with their fans.

Here's a [REC'CD] MIX by Easter Egg entitled LEMONADE 07. If this mix was on a CD and called 'EggFace and his Eggface Chronicles', I'd definitely purchase it at my local Best Buy.

LEMONADE could fit into a lot of different parts of your life. Whether you need to make a playlist that people will judge you on because you're throwing a party, or you are a girl who wants to listen to something other than Paramore on the elliptical, there are a lot of opportunities to integrate this mix into your life.

If you listen to this mix in a group of people, there are a lot of opportunities for conversations that start like this: 'omg, I've never heard this version of this song' or 'is this a mashup? I love mashups... have you heard the Ratatat remixes?'

You can DL for free here: LEMONADE 07. [REC'CD MIXES DON'T HAPPEN OFTEN]

EASTER EGG vs The City of Portland

LIVE CONCERT NEWS:
Easter Egg was banned from a Portland venue for bringing the party too hard. I guess his post-Girl Talk brand of PARTY isn't granola enough for Portland, but I think that's a good thing. Look for Easter Egg to either get more popular with the Gen-Y kids of Portland who couldn't identify with the Microphones, or to get blacklisted even harder. Oh well. At least the bloggers appreciate him.

[EASTER EGG RELATED MUSIC INSIGHTS]
Here's a pretty interesting Pharrell+Twista music video that is a pretty solid song. It also demonstrates Pharrell's ability to research design aesthetics and introduce them to hip hop.

DL the Easter Egg track below that's a solid utilization of the acapella from that song 'That girl wanna give it up watch her'. It's a COPY beat.

Easter Egg is Fresh To Death

Have you heard Easter Egg? He's from Portland, OR, but I don't think that has anything to do with his sound.
He's more of a product of the post-Girl Talk computer-operated world that is about to saturate the blogosphere.

What makes me appreciate Easter Egg more is that he listed his genre in iTunes as "Hipster Hop." That's about as self-aware as you could ask him to be. I'd say Hipster Hop is kind of like the stuff that you put on when you're around friends who wouldn't know how to appreciate the "Let's Make Love and Listen DFA" riff unless there was some mainstream rap over it.

It's for those nights when you don't want to feel the pressure of thinking you have listen to something revolutionary, and you just want to have some fun. Download his mixtape. It's free, fun, and worth blogging about.

Easter Egg is about to drop a new mixtape, so you might as well get acquainted with his older work.
POUR IT UP is Easter Egg's most recent mixtape. Download it here.

His track "Giving Up Florida" is about as fresh as it gets, in my opinion.
