A lot of people probably remember the alternative dog, Minnie. He was 2007’s #1 myspacer worth blogging about back when there used to be myspacers worth blogging about. (I think most myspacers with strong personal brands are developing youtube personalities now.) If you look at the from 2007, you are reminded of the bloghousiest year in the history of the Earth. Back then, electro music was just invented, and we were all looking to escape from our indie / indiecore/ meaningful core pasts. Bright colours and zany accessories were the norm–we just wanted to express ourselves.

If you look at the from 2k9.1, you’ll notice a more subdued personal dog brand, representative of our current electro recession.

The implementation of the child predator glasses represent a sort of an alternative ‘thinking man’ who is resigned to his poor eyesight, but still eager to brand himself. His lack of neon clothing is a ‘back to basics look’, which is kinda like burning all of your neon altbro clothes, and moving forward with a pastel/earth toned personal brand.

It’s kinda weird how it’s already 2k9.
I’m nervous.
Should I make my blog layout ‘less neon’?

This song, which is a cover of (2 bands I have never listened to until now) kind of get ‘conceptual’ in an authentic way. Reminds me of pre-blog era indie music from 2k2. Maybe instead of ‘dance parties’, we will go back to watching conceptual rock shows with underlying pop sensibilities. Back then, the audience would go to a show to stand there and ‘watch and listen and feel’ as many sounds and sights came at U. (This will be a new phenomenon to entryLevel Alts who are just searching for meaning in large groups of people/longing to be part of something bigger than themselves. They will embrace this new non-DancePartie format of consuming music, and it will symbolize their growth into post-EntryLevelAlts.)

I have always wondered what would happen if electro took over the world. What if these sweet, heavy sounds took over our minds and bodies, and ended up enslaving us? It would turn our women into sex slaves & our force all men to work long hours in alternative retail outlets. How could we fight back?

This picture is an accurate portrayal of electro finding life through sound cables and enslaving a woman. Electro is more interested in finding the perfect pair of alternative breasts than even the horniest alternative bro. Electro will not let you escape from Her web of wires until you give yourself to Her.

Electro can manifest itself in many different formats. The song “Lights and Music” by Cut Copy is actually a song that describes how Electro can take over your life.

Should we be afraid of Electro taking over humans?
Are you more afraid of China, Iran, or Electro?
Maybe this will help learn to live with the electro recession.

i am concerned. i think everyone wearing muted colors this summer is the first sign that people are starting take a look at their drug use, insincerity and flighty scenester mentalities about art and culture and get a little scared. we all know that we can’t do this forever, especially those of us who are 30 or pushing 30.
i personally love this life and wish it would last forever. i know many of us are wearing plaid now and throwing away our neon. but what’s next? earth tones? baggy jeans? chain wallets? music made with real instruments? fear the grunge revival. fight for your right to partie without particularly caring about the people you partie with, or the problems of the world. i don’t know where burma is, and for now i don’t want to know.
when you’re making plans with your alt friends to take your alt babies to the alt folk mixed gendered version of lilithfair in 2k15, you may wish you had held out a little longer before throwing out your neon. just wearing it a few more weeks might have added just a few more weeks to the survival of the electro partie economy. and when we’re old worry about our kids’ grades, we’re gonna miss those few weeks.
there’s plenty of time left to have fun and i don’t mean to be alarmist about all this. i just think we should wait until a few alt celebrities die of drug overdoses before we start getting all down about our lifestyles. I think we can love one another deep down in an unspoken way without breaking out acoustic guitars and signing about it.
