Is the buzz drought over?

Indie Gods?
R u there?
It's me
Carles

We've been in a really buzzless drought
reduced to posting really mediocre memes
Uninspired content
Hollow buzz

Sometimes I miss my youth
When I felt excited abt relevant mp3s
Am I too entitled now?
Am I jaded by the VIP experience?

</embed>

I just want authentic buzz
I'm not going 2 lower my standards
I'm not just going 2 'hype' any mp3 that has weird owl hoots in it
just because it is by 2 famous-ish ppl

My thirst 4 buzz hasn't been quenched
in so long
our buzz crops have dried up
Our content farm that produces buzz no longer makes $$$

</embed>

Can the spirit of authentic buzz save us?
Are these all 'solid ass tracks' from the recent past?
Will the buzz drought last 4evr?
Was there nevr a buzz drought?
What mp3s have u been vibing 2 lately?

Do u <3 the new Neon Indian album?
R u excited for the 'new sound' on the next Toro Y Moi album?
R u totally surprised that Glass Candy 'came out of nowhere' with new MP3s?
What relevant music have u been illegally downloading lately?
Is the buzz drought 'over'?
Is this the buzz we've been praying 4?
Have we found our authentic buzz again?
Who will 'win' 2k11?

Which 1 is better?

As most HRO readers have learned, this is the music/mp3 blog that is not interested in 'doing journalistic research', fact-finding, or making fair comparisons. Additionally, I am pretty into the audience perception of artists and music, as opposed to trying to formulate traditional music criticism on the historical relevancy of a Justice album, etc.

I know every one always wants new music, because 'that's the point of a music blog' apparently, but I want to make an effort to re-open conversations about bands after their initial BUZZ ends and the audience auto-approval mechanisms terminate. Isn't it weird how blogs can sometimes be more sustainable than startup bands, because it's just a process of blurbing about something once, then never mentioning them again?

So I'm trying to look for ways to write more about music that I enjoy beyond the usual "DL this HOT TRACK" blurb, and an excuse to re-blog about bands+songs that I [HIGHLY or MODERATELY REC]. Or maybe I'm just trying to bait more angry comments about misinformation.

**********************************
So now that every one knows about GLASS CANDY and CHROMATICS, I guess we can finally tackle the question: WHICH 1 IS BETTER? WHO DO YALL LIKE MORE? WHICH 1 REPRESENTS U MORE?

Sure, you like both GlassCandy & Chromatics a lot, because you are an interesting person who reads music blogs and alternative magazines, but which one of these bands do you like more? It's an important question that you should spend some time debating.

Hey look, it's Johnny Jewel, the guy who produces both of these acts. He's a disco genius, right? When is that guy going to produce for Madonna?

Before you start to compare their tracks, you should confront the question of which female lead singer is the KUTEST?

The girl from CHROMATICS

or the girl from GLASS CANDY (Ida No)

Which one would you rather be in a long term relationship with? While I enjoy vulnerable, dark nights with Chromatics, sometimes I want the heavy, fun sounds of Glass Candy. I wonder which one represents the REAL 'me' the most... If I had to drop one of these bands off a cliff, I'm just not sure which one it would be.

This might be a personal question: Did you feel like you couldn't like Glass Candy as much when you found out they were going to be opening for Architecture in Helsinki? I mean, you know how those Arch in Helsinki fans can be...

When it comes to arpeggios, which we must use to evaluate the strength of every band, I'd say Glass Candy's "Etheric Device" is probably the best 'song based around a super intense arpeggio' in the past decade. However, the guitar arpeggio in the Chromatics' "I'm On Fire" is pretty refreshing after listening to too many electro-arpeggios.

WHICH 1 IS BETTER?
IF U HAD 2 SHOVE 1 OFF A CLIFF, WHICH 1 WOULD IT BE?
IF U HAD 2 DATE 1 FOR 4 YEARS OF YOUR LIFE, WHICH 1 WOULD IT BE, & WHY WOULD U BREAK UP?

FAKE NUDES: big in 2008?
There's nothing wrong with a sweet, high-resolution photo. This one of St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark) makes her look like a buzzworthy musician, and more importantly, an interesting human being.

Do you think people ever take into consideration 'how would this look if some one made a fake nude out of this?'

Here is the top search result for FAKE NUDES. It's a blog with a bunch of fake n00dz.

Here's a NSFW fake nude of Tina Fey. (click 2 enlarge)

I think 2008 is going to be all about fake nudes of indie stars. Feist nudes. St. Vincent Nudes. Glass Candy nudes. Uffie nudes.

Notable Moment in 2007: REMEMBER THE MEG WHITE SEX TAPE?

Songs About Computers

Computers are our friends. We use websites like eHarmony and Match.com to find love and passion, Myspace to enhance friendships, and blogs to find fresh music. Thanks computers!

This post is about the new world. Did Al Gore invent the internet?

I think a lot of covers of Kraftwerk's song "Computer Love" aren't that memorable/ are pretty pointless. Glass Candy did a pretty solid cover, probably my fave.

I also enjoy Cansei de Ser Sexy's "Computer Heat," which is definitely a party starter, and an easy way to let people know that you've heard more CSS than the standard "Let's Make Love And Listen to Death From Above."

Glass Candy on Tour with Architecture in Helsinki

I still can't get over what a MUST the 'After Dark' compilation by the label Italians Do It Better is. It's probably the most bloggable compilation of 2007.

Glass Candy, the label's alpha-dog band, is about to blow up since they are going on tour with Architecture in Helsinki. You better download their songs so you can tell your friends that you "knew about them before every body liked them."

PRETTY VACANT: A DJ duo worth blogging about

I was just jonesing around myspace, and I found PRETTY VACANT, a DJ DUO from Dallas, TX.

Members: Justin Vacant, Lolita Vacant
Sounds Like: DJ Never Forget
City: Dallas, TX
Myspace Layout Rating: 10 out of 10

The thing that I like about DJs is that they are proliferators of the music that people NEED to be hearing if they are living a fun life. PRETTY VACANT has two FRESH ASS mixes available on their website. Listening to these mixes will make you cooler, and make people think that you have great taste in music. That's guaranteed.

Pretty Vacant definitely have the potential to be relevant scene makers in the incubator scene of Dallas, TX.

In a landscape where it is important to have a great image, utilize web 2.0, create gifs with hot colors, and know killer music, PRETTY VACANT is doing a great job. I can't wait to hear their next mix. I hope they put ETHERIC DEVICE by Glass Candy on it.
