Just watched this video of Deerhunter playing on Conan O'Brien's new show on TBS. I'm not sure if any1 even watches that show, or if people just still do the whole thing where they are like 'I LOVE CONAN' but don't watch him. Anyways, Brady Cox went on the show with his band Deerhunter. Can't say that it was a memorable performance. If I were a mainstreamer, I defs would changed the channel and been like 'huh? smoke machine? Who is this dude? Why is this song so boring?' As an indie bro, I feel like I value the mp3 version of "Helicopter" but not sure if I dig this shoegaze reinterpretation.
Sorta feels like Conan is going to start booking tons of indie buzzbands just to get 'blog coverage' the day after his shows. I feel like Conan + Jimmy Fallon don't really get 'good numbers' but they can say things like 'We have over 1 million followers on twitter so we must be doing something right!' even though they should be judged by how many ppl tune in2 their show.

From what I understand, black and white movies were created before color movies, IMAX movies, and 3d movies existed. "Black And White" quality means it is super old, and super boring, because they didn't really have sweet video technology back in the day. It's no surprise that Late Night With Jimmy Kimmel Live producers decided to put Joanna Newsom's live set on their show in black and white, since it was 'mad boring.'
There's really nothing u can do to 'jazz up' a crazy lady playing a harp, so I guess it was a decent decision, but I'll bet they lost a ton of viewers who thought that their TV 'messed up', or that their local ABC affiliate was just showing some old, boring movie.
Feel kinda bad for her, like they 'shafted her hard', letting her know that she wasn't good enough 2 deserve 'HD color' coverage. Just like 'oops. sorry yall, we booked a lemon. Go ahead and change it if u want. Tune back in tomorrow and color will be fixed.'

It seems like their booking agent/PR manager is some sort of 'slave driver' who makes them play 'every festival' and 'every late night talk show' possible, trying to get their brand out there. I guess it makes sense though since they aren't really in it for the authenticity, instead they probably see an opportunity to become 'the next big female singer band' since Feist goes on 'mad hiatus' for so long.

Conan O'Brien has been a 'complete failure' on television, getting fired from NBC for having bad ratings even though people on the internet 'love him' because he was kinda authentic before the internet made it completely impractical to watch a live talk show in the middle of the night.

From what I understand, Carson Daly's late night show is 'the absolute worst' slot in late night television. Many late night TV viewers usually opt for infomercials and soft porn as opposed to watching him interview C rate celebrities, and watching C rate bands perform. He used to be responsible for the 'late night television debuts' of many internet indie buzz artists, but now that Jimmy Fallon has cornered that market, Carson Daly's show is 'sorta useless.'
Many PR firms of indie buzzbands probably decline invitations to Carson Daly because 'no1 even watches it.' Feel like u sorta 'compromise ur credibility' when ur band is like 'ya, we wanna be on TV really bad. So many new markets available at 3 a.m.' [via hornie bros who get hard and buy Girls Gone Wild DVDs].

It seemed like it might have been 'inaccessible' to mainstreamers who just want to watch the Kings of Leon / Nickelback / Ke$ha get their music on when they watch Saturday Night Live. I think Spoon has released some semi-relevant albums, and usually make a new one every few years. They are one of the many forefathers of indie rock who have morphed into 'cool dad' rock with a 78% crossover appeal to older 'rock n roll fans.' From what I understand, they have a new album. I think they get a lot of support because they have fans who 'still actually buy albums.'
Saw this live performance of "Who Makes Your Money" on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I wonder if this song 'sounds good on the album' but possibly 'doesn't translate well' to live TV. Felt boring. I feel sad for potential fans that they could have reached, but didn't really play something that sounded warm and approachable. This seemed too 'ambient and conceptual' for mainstream fans.

Zooey Deschanel seemed 'tense', like she was performing the song for the first time 'live.' It looks like she is 'nervous' but also 'trying to act natural', like she is 'having fun', but it was kinda awkward. I guess being a rock star is different from 'acting' because u have to be urself when ur in a band, rite? She keeps looking off into the distance. Wonder if she is visualizing something or some1.

Jimmy Fallon has become the official late night home of blog buzz bands. Last night, the 2k9 sensation The XX played their hit song 'Islands' on his show. Not sure if I like them live, or if I prefer them in MP3 format. Not sure if mainstream American found them to be compelling, or if they are just another 'shit alt band' 2 them.
From what I understand, popular tween Twilight sensation Kristen Stewart was the 'headliner' of the show, so the XX probably got a 40% bump in tween audiences.
Still kinda wonder if The XX are a marketing gimmick for Dos Equis, especially with this 'beer' product placement.
