True or False: They Only Want u When ur 17--when ur 21, ur no fun.

I remember back when I was a pre-alt, before the modern version of 'alt' had ironed itself out, there was a popular song by the band Ladytron called "Seventeen." In the song, the lead singer says that girls are more desirable when they are 17, and when they are 21, no1 is interested in them. It felt better when u were under the age of 16 hearing that song, thinking that u were about to enter the prime of ur life. Then u turn 17... 18... 21 ... 25 .... 30.... 35... 39 ... 45.... 50... birthday after birthday... and ur whole life is behind u.

Can't believe that my best days are behind me. Wonder if I feel 'more attracted' to 'barely legal babez.' Wonder why they say that girls are 'no longer in demand' if they get too old. Is it because of wear and tear? Damaged goods? Sloppie Seconds? Just trying 2 understand. 'Nvr wanna grow up.' - Peter Pan [via Mike Jax]

Do yall remember before electro/bloghouse when all alt-ish electro music was 'grimey' and 'somewhat industrial'? Miss those days. Back before ______ invented the remix.

How old r u? When was the prime of ur life? Miss those days.

I remember that time M.I.A. wore Xes over her nips over a shirt. I never thought I'd live to see the day when men wore Xes over their nipples. (I partie rlly hard, so I often say 'omg i'm gonna die b4 I turn 21, but it doesn't even matter cuz they only want u when ur 17...when ur 21...ur no fun. Love Ladytron')

BTW...no1 ever told me that the girl in Ladytron is super kute. I always thought they were a band of men who used female computer voices. Kind of like how you'd guess the gender-makeup of AIR was 2 twinks + 3 female computer voices after hearing "Sexy Boy."

She kind of reminds me of some one who would be Bjork's younger sister who was hotter and 'fit in' more than Bjork did, so then Bjork had to act like a weirdo to get attention.

L.A.X.

A couple of years ago, I was at some pre-blogosphere house party in Austin, and happened to wander into a packed room with a band playing hit after hit after hit. The band's name is L.A.X., so naturally, it took me a good 3 years to find their web presence on google, instead of the Los Angeles airport.

Can you go wrong with cute girl voice plus dude on vocoder?

LAX has been through a few lineup changes, but their sound is definitely worth blogging about. Just for the sake of cross referencing, I could see people who are into Ladytron, Gil Mantera's Party Dream, or any thing else that sounds like "A house beat making love with synth."

They're probably my favourite Austin band.
