Can't believe 2k10 is 'flying by.' So many album cycles, but no real 'clear cut album of 2k10 fave' just yet. Feel like we are still waiting for the buzzosphere to 'officially cream their pants' abt 1 album, but no single album has been 'good enough' to warrant mass spoogage. Really wish we had a 'gold standard' of 2k10, because as of right now, it is like we are all worshiping different Gods, valuing different versions of 'divine truth.'
Maybe we took for granted 2k9. I feel like that was possibly the 'peak' of the blogosphere, back when we had tons of positive vibes to share, and we weren't looking to tear down old indie bands like we are in 2k10. 2k10 seems really 'defensive' like we are protecting some the idea of some era that might never have existed, and hesitantly waiting for a new album that transcends our existences. Every time an album fails to come thru, we can't help but have a huge meltdown, reflecting on better days.

MGMT - Congratulations
Seems 'impossible' that any website would mortgage their brand to 'take a stand' for this album. Even if people took the 'radical approach' and tried to make it sound like a masterpiece, it still wouldn't really be believable.
More than likely, this will be named the 'biggest flop' of 2k10, and it will enable websites to write overly in-depth articles about 'how and why' MGMT 'went wrong.' Like this album will be a case study on 'how not to manage sophomore release.' Feel like a lot of indie bands will study this flop, and do their best to make fans happy instead of writing a 'far out, trippy album.'

Beach House - Teen Dream
Beach House seems to have 'delivered', and will probably be a 'Top 5 lock' just because it is 'their time' to become Tier 1 alt celebs. I think their product is generally consistent, and they produce buzz mp3s on schedule, so they deserve to be rewarded. Much like we honor McDonalds with our business for providing a consistent product, we honors Beach House for serving us adequately every 2 years.

Wonder how this album will 'do' at the end of the year. I think Chaz Bundick probably needs to release another EP towards the end of 2k10 to 'remind every1 about his brand.' Worried that people might forget about chillwave era buzz mp3s by 2k10.9.
This album seems like it could 'finish anywhere.' Feel excited and scared. I think his brand has 'gotten stronger' since the album release, so maybe if he releases a few more music videos or EPs, people will still feel excited about the brand, and have a positive memory of his album.
Is the chillwave era 'dead' or just 'dormant'/'hibernating'?
Will formal music critics care about chillwave, or are they just looking forward to writing about Neon Indian in 2k11, and how he outgrew the chillwave genre?

People apparently 'really like this band' or something. Not sure what they sound like. I'm sure they will end up in some top 10 lists since people find them to be meaningful, but also those same people might just go with the Arcade Fire instead.

It's so crazy how the internet impacts many of the marketing + design decisions of today's artists and musicians. The drive for SEO, search engine optimization, is important for musicians to be able to differentiate their products, and make sure consumers can find their music+web presence without much noise. As a blog that relies on artists to give me their digital media for free, I appreciate anything an artist can do to make sure my blog / their product will get more google hits from 'random ass people' trying to find info / leaks / free mp3s from a band. (Wonder if I really deserve ad money for my voice/reach, or if I blogs should be 'profit sharing' with artists). Artists can utilize a lot of fun tricks to make sure their bands + albums + songs are SEOed. Pick a band name that no one else has so that it will show up first in google (Grizzly Bear and Panda Bear seem to be actually competing against real bears for google hits). Pick an album name that is a made up word that no1 has ever even typed. Collaborate with artists who have a deeper history within google to get more 'goog cred.' Name a song after some phrase that will get you accidental google hits. Put a Jonas Brother in your music video so that the Google algorithm escalates your band's importance according to 'the system.' Not sure how google works, but there are apparently 'trained professionals' who will help you 'trick google' into thinking ur site / brand is important. I guess it is important for businesses since so many consumers make random, under-informed decisions just because they 'trust google.' 
M.I.A. recently named her new album "/\/\/\Y/\", which is supposed to spell out MAYA, except using forward and back slashes. It seems like this was 'something kewl' to do in order to exploit typography + the modern usage of slashes in order to signify the directory-based lifestyle that we live on the web. 
However, as 'clever' as this might be typographically, I wonder if it is a 'complete disaster' for the sake of Search Engine Optimization. I attempted to google the album name, and I came up with no results. It seems like the only thing that the search engine can pick up is the "Y" utilized in album name. Not really 'sure' about how google / html / php / the internet language works, but it seems like the "slashes" in the name aren't picked up as being part of a typographical gimmick. 
Maybe her new album is some sort of marketing gimmick for Yahoo. Even tried to do a twitter search to see what sort of 'live buzz' on the album was going down. 
Do u know if it is a good thing if your album is ungooglable? Will google eventually 'pick up' on this backslash + forward slash error? Can M.I.A. call the Google CEO and tell him to 'index her shit'? Does n e 1 know how google works? Is there like an old guy who has to go through a file cabinet 2 find results for you every time you search for something? Sorta reminds me of when Justice named their album "†", then had to give it the alternate name "Cross" just to make sure every1 could google it.

Do you feel like your core fan base will buy/DL the album no matter how difficult it is to get to, but you have to make sure that 'new markets' of lazy fans can easily find your album? Are 'special characters' too gimmicky to be utilized in album names? Should blogs be 'pissed' at M.I.A. for not making her new album more google-friendly? If M.I.A.'s album doesn't sell well, can she blame it on Google for failing to index her progressive album name? Is SEO 'bullshit'? I was reading my twitter homepage the other day, and I couldn't help but notice some 'scathing snark comments' from the popular bloghouse-to-mainstream rapper M.I.A.
It seems like she is 'talking mad shit' about our President Barack Obama. Apparently he won 1st prize in the metaphorical 'Best Human on the Planet' awards [via Nobel Peace Prize]. It seems like something that we should celebrate whether or not he deserves it and whether or not the Award 'means anything.' It is an important step in rebranding our nation to the rest of the world. It seems like winning this award might 'convince the rest of the world that the USA is a chill place, trying 2 make some positive changes.' It seems like M.I.A. is 'trying to take a shit' on our nation/our leader/etc. Seems hard for me to identify with artists who don't see America as being 'fucking awesome', even when we had a Repubby President. We must support our leaders. Sorta wish ppl were punished when they performed public acts of rebellion. Wish our government monitored twitter, kinda like Iran.
I am not sure if M.I.A. lives in the USA. It seems like these types of 'snark comments' might make her some sort of person on a list of 'bad people' according to the US govt, since she has been linked 2 'terrorist groups' or something.. It seems like making anti-Obama statements might diminish her appeal to liberal alts. Like there might be Protests outside of her shows in the United States by liberals and conservatives.
I am not sure if the Nobel Peace Prize is still a 'prestigious' award. It seems like it would be comparable to some sort of 'Blog Awards' that reward 'The Best Blog on the Planet' or something. Or possibly an 'MTV Award' in film/music/music videos. Seems like a nice process, but it ultimately helps the awards show when u can 'brand the award' with the most popular performers. Think I might start an 'awards system' for some sort of alternative genre, and maybe it will appear to be 'more real' over time.
But still, it's 'fucking awesome' that Barry Obama was named the most Noble Human on the Planet. A Bro Who Branded himself as 'Hope' & 'Change' finally gets some sort of reward (besides the Presidency). Seems like a 'huge victory' for 'us.'
We can never forget who we are as a nation, and our special mission as 'the best nation in the World.' We must stay unified in our beliefs and steadfast in the American way. Any1 who does not approve of our way of life is a terrorist since they don't 'get' us and are ultimately trying 2 harm us. God has truly blessed our nation, and we must accept our responsibility to 'bring good' to the rest of the world. You are either a patriot or a terrorist--there is nothing in between.

I'm really not sure what's 'kewl' n e more. Seems like we are in the 'longest dry spell' in the history of independent music, or maybe I am too relevant 4 my own good. I am thinking of getting some tattoos that serve as tributes to 'The Most Relevant Times of my Life.' Maybe some stuff like Justice Crosses, MerriweatherPostPavillion arm sleeves, and miscellaneous Paper Planes flyin' around my body like krazie.
I am also considering tattooing the 'best mp3s of the decade' on my forearm, so that when I am in public, I will always be able to generate conversations in which I can thrive. h8 when people get a ton of unrelated tattoos, and don't realize that tatties are art, and they are meant to tell a story about your life on top of your body. It seems like if I had a 'Paper Planes' tattoo, people would know that I was sort of 'floating in the wind' and 'just trying to crossover.'
Much like the song, I am not sure if the tattoo will have 'staying power.' Not sure if my kids will 'get it' when they are teenagers. Hope they don't laugh at me. Worried that my kids will 1 day be 'kewler' than me. Hopefully I can just keep checking alt Websites until I die so that I stay 'in the know.' Always want my son/daughter to know that he/she will never be more authentic than me.

As yall know, popular rapper M.I.A. has a personal brand that is 'very political.' I'm not even sure where she is from, or what this flier is encouraging me to do. I think it is for some governmental election or something. She is apparently 'giving away an mp3' for people who vote. I'm not sure if you get a 'redemption code' after you vote, or if this is some sort of online election, like hotornot.com.
I wonder if M.I.A. has enough reach to impact an election. Maybe if the election was in Sri Lanka/Brooklyn, but I am afraid that it will be a difficult for her to sway the vote of people who don't listen to indie/mainstream rap. I feel like if I were a political candidate, and some sort of 'zany minority with ties to terrorist groups' supported me, I would say 'thank u, but could u keep quiet.'

I watched this video of rapper M.I.A. being interviewed by snarky political comedian Bill Maher. I know that M.I.A. is political and shit, but I never really knew what she was talking about. Glad that Bill Maher sort of 'spoke for her' and 'explained the issue' that she keeps blabbing about. Not even sure if I 'get it.' I feel like there are 'levels of going mainstream' which inspire an escalating amount of resentment/'backlash' against u, depending on how mainstream your music/personal brand goes. I think it is 'important for a band to try to go mainstream' so that they can setup college funds for their kids. But when a band/artist 'goes mainstream', we can't help but feel a lil bit like 'h8 u.'

Review: Listened 2 this song by Rye Rye featuring M.I.A. Not sure what I am supposed to think about it. Not sure if Rye Rye is 'authentically from the streets' or in that genre of 'rap that is marketed to 'hipsters' but not really accepted by authentic hiphop circles.'

I feel like males dominate Blipsterdom, since it is easy for them to adapt to new styles. However, most girls who are alt and want to be blipster-core have a more difficult time showcasing their personal brand. Fortunately, mainstream hiphop star and multiple Grammy & Oscar award winner, M.I.A. provided a template which they could use to springboard their personal brand.
This is the M.I.Alt. I just hope that females in the Africalt-American community feel more 'empowered' than previous mainstreamers who feel like they have to adapt to hiphop stereotypes. Yalll. It's good 2 see that M.I.A. is retired, but 'still likes to chill pretty hard with Los Angeles' biggest alternative celebrities.' One day, I hope to get pregnant, but still be able to chill hard and watch hulu/vimeo/youtube videos on my Macbook. Don't want to sacrifice 'my daily internet routine' to take care of a child. Yall. I know a lot of yall guys and gals wear leggings. However, after M.I.A.'s monumental 'performance while pregnant', we can't help but wonder if the leggings aesthetic will forever be associated with Pregnant People. I know that before 2k8, pregnant people usually just work 'some baggy jogging pants' or maybe some other 'comfy pants' with 'a drawstring.' What's the deal with SANTOGOLD? She confuses me. I've seen her around blogville for a while, and started to finally listen to her music.
There's Santogold with M.I.A. Maybe my problem is that I didn't find M.I.A. incredibly approachable/listen-to-able in regular contexts, so now it's tough for me to get into this product that I perceive is intended for the ears of people 'who like stuff that reminds them of M.I.A."
According wikipedia, SANTOGOLD "went to college at Wesleyan University where she studied Caribbean and West African drumming." Am I a bad person if I don't appreciate tribal beats that aren't in 4/4? 
I was watching some videos of SANTOGOLD performing live, and her sidekick MC sort of confused me. She looks kind of like 'the crazy white girl from Oklahoma who for some reason decided to study Caribbean and West African drumming at college' and met Santogold.
A lot of stuff on Santogold's myspace sounds different than this song that they made a video for.
