I am not sure if M.I.A. lives in the USA. It seems like these types of ’snark comments’ might make her some sort of person on a list of ‘bad people’ according to the US govt, since she has been linked 2 ‘terrorist groups’ or something.. It seems like making anti-Obama statements might diminish her appeal to liberal alts. Like there might be Protests outside of her shows in the United States by liberals and conservatives.

I am not sure if the Nobel Peace Prize is still a ‘prestigious’ award. It seems like it would be comparable to some sort of ‘Blog Awards’ that reward ‘The Best Blog on the Planet’ or something. Or possibly an ‘MTV Award’ in film/music/music videos. Seems like a nice process, but it ultimately helps the awards show when u can ‘brand the award’ with the most popular performers. Think I might start an ‘awards system’ for some sort of alternative genre, and maybe it will appear to be ‘more real’ over time.

But still, it’s ‘fucking awesome’ that Barry Obama was named the most Noble Human on the Planet. A Bro Who Branded himself as ‘Hope’ & ‘Change’ finally gets some sort of reward (besides the Presidency). Seems like a ‘huge victory’ for ‘us.’

We can never forget who we are as a nation, and our special mission as ‘the best nation in the World.’ We must stay unified in our beliefs and steadfast in the American way. Any1 who does not approve of our way of life is a terrorist since they don’t ‘get’ us and are ultimately trying 2 harm us. I’m really not sure what’s ‘kewl’ n e more. Seems like we are in the ‘longest dry spell’ in the history of independent music, or maybe I am too relevant 4 my own good. I am thinking of getting some tattoos that serve as tributes to ‘The Most Relevant Times of my Life.’ Maybe some stuff like Justice Crosses, MerriweatherPostPavillion arm sleeves, and miscellaneous Paper Planes flyin’ around my body like krazie.

I am also considering tattooing the ‘best mp3s of the decade’ on my forearm, so that when I am in public, I will always be able to generate conversations in which I can thrive. h8 when people get a ton of unrelated tattoos, and don’t realize that tatties are art, and they are meant to tell a story about your life on top of your body. It seems like if I had a ‘Paper Planes’ tattoo, people would know that I was sort of ‘floating in the wind’ and ‘just trying to crossover.’

Much like the song, I am not sure if the tattoo will have ’staying power.’ Not sure if my kids will ‘get it’ when they are teenagers. Hope they don’t laugh at me. Worried that my kids will 1 day be ‘kewler’ than me. As yall know, popular rapper M.I.A. has a personal brand that is ‘very political.’ I’m not even sure where she is from, or what this flier is encouraging me to do. I think it is for some governmental election or something. She is apparently ‘giving away an mp3′ for people who vote. I’m not sure if you get a ‘redemption code’ after you vote, or if this is some sort of online election, like hotornot.com.

I wonder if M.I.A. has enough reach to impact an election. Maybe if the election was in Sri Lanka/Brooklyn, but I am afraid that it will be a difficult for her to sway the vote of people who don’t listen to indie/mainstream rap. I feel like if I were a political candidate, and some sort of ‘zany minority with ties to terrorist groups’ supported me, I would say ‘thank u, but could u keep quiet.’

Sometimes I wonder how ‘mainstream’ a formerly independent artist can go. I feel like there are ‘levels of going mainstream’ which inspire an escalating amount of resentment/’backlash’ against u, depending on how mainstream your music/personal brand goes. I think it is ‘important for a band to try to go mainstream’ so that they can setup college funds for their kids. But when a band/artist ‘goes mainstream’, we can’t help but feel a lil bit like ‘h8 u.’

Here is a list of escalating microevents which make u feel like ‘fuck… they r going mainstream’:

• Having ur music used in a commercial
• Getting a mainstream record deal where u have 2 make 6 albums and only get like 3% of sales
• Your CDs are in a mainstream store like Best Buy
• Playing live at a Late Show
• Playing live on a Late Show
• Being played in the background of an MTV show/promo spot
• Having ur song be the theme song to ‘The Hills’
• A legacy ‘artist’ like David Byrne saying that ‘ur music is rlly authentic.’
• Some free spirited cunt saying that she ‘listens 2 ur band all the time’ in a magazine interview (like Natalie Portman in her prime)
• One of those authentic male actors ’saying that ur music is good’ and ‘being in attendance at ur concert’  (like Ryan Gosling showing up at a Grizzly Bear concert, then getting blurbed about being there)
• U r ‘blurbed about’ as ‘the next big thing’ in some notable magazine that will go out of business next year
• Having a rapper sing over ur catchiest song
• Kanye West nonsensically raps over ur song just cuz it is ’so kewl’

• Ur music is used by a political campaign since the message is so generic and welcoming, and the song is pretty catchy/uplifting

Can yall think of any other events within the alternative artist product lifecycle where u ‘find urself cringing’ and saying ‘fuck… we lost them…. think they are mainstream now’? Has there ever been a particular artist that u stopped liking after they ‘fucking sold out’ by being involved in one of the above circumstances? R u worried about M.I.A.’s next album, and the ‘hype backlash’?

Sort of wish Oprah would use her massive platform to ‘do something good’ instead of just being snarky and causing health scares across the nation. Tired of her being some1 who ‘tells middle america’ about emerging trends/weight loss techniques/technologies. Wish we could build them a ‘website 4 stupid people’ or something.

Review: Listened 2 this song by Rye Rye featuring M.I.A. Not sure what I am supposed to think about it. Not sure if Rye Rye is ‘authentically from the streets’ or in that genre of ‘rap that is marketed to ‘hipsters’ but not really accepted by authentic hiphop circles.’Can’t really ‘judge’ music that sounds like this. I really only know Rye Rye cuz she sang that one song about ’shaking that shit to the ground’ that was ‘catchy’ or something like that. This song sounds alright, I guess. Probably doesn’t mesh with my background+lifestyle choices. When I hear the song, I wonder if M.I.A. was in the studio, or if they just used an audio sample of her saying ‘bang’ from a previous song. Sounds kinda weird, but I think it is important for music blogs to cover M.I.A. even if they ‘don’t really know why.’

H8 when blogs report fake news. Wish there was some website that was a fact checking/anti-plagarism source so that no1 could write fake stories just to get hits. Wish the paparazzi realized that we’re all humans and not just newsbits+memes.

I feel like males dominate Blipsterdom, since it is easy for them to adapt to new styles. However, most girls who are alt and want to be blipster-core have a more difficult time showcasing their personal brand. Fortunately, mainstream hiphop star and multiple Grammy & Oscar award winner, M.I.A. provided a template which they could use to springboard their personal brand.

This is the M.I.Alt. I just hope that females in the Africalt-American community feel more ‘empowered’ than previous mainstreamers who feel like they have to adapt to hiphop stereotypes. Not every1 has 2 be a ‘video girl’ doing some sort of dance that showcases ur figure.
