My New Default Photo. [ft Barry Obama]

Some moments only happen once
So u must do whatever u can
2 ensure that u capture these moments
2 share with ur friends and family

I capture media
With my smart phone
.jpg, .mov, .wmv, .3gp, .avi
Blast it out 2 social networks
Let my tribe live and breathe with me.

Comment, LIKE, RT, +1

Before I met the President
I wasn't nervous abt his presence
When I met the President
I was nervous that I wouldn't capture the moment
4evr & ever & evr (until my hard drive that I didn't back up crashed)

He came up to me, extended his hand
I took a photo of his face
He hugged me
I extended my arm
Snapped a photo of my face
The back of his head
Our embrace

"I voted for u."
He said "Thank U, bb! U look good! Be my fan on FB!"
"I already am."
"God Bless You."

Great story,
I know.
But if u don't capture ur content
It basically nvr happened

My new default
This moment will last 4evr
Sorta wish I had 1 of these, though

Get a wider angle
higher angle
Minimize my double chin

******
Is this the greatest Myspace style 'self-pic' of all time?
is this broad 'the ultimate lamestreamer'?
Do u 'capture moments' [via ppl holding up cameras at concerts] or do u 'just live it'?

Where have all the Myspacers gone?

Myspacers, Myspacers...
Where have u gone?
It seems like only yesterday
U were the center of the internet

Every1 looking at ur sweet layouts
Ur premium profile song
Ur top 1,2,4,8,12,16,244 friends
Ur comments
Ur blogs
Ur 'music'
Ur 'groups'
Ur photos
Ur embedded images that made the page 'wide as hell'
GIFs, videos, autoplaying widgets
Ur profile really represented U

It was a great day when you got 'myspace famous' enough
to hire a designer to create a custom layout 4 u
Myspace no longer was just a place 4 friends
It was a place 4 u 2 feed ur internet fame

We dyed our hair pink
Lost 20-40 lbs
Got tats/piercings
We got asymmetrical haircuts

We bought all our clothes at Hot Topic
We hung out at the mall
We actually did learn a lot about HTML
We used 2 be happie.
We used 2 be Myspacers

I miss ur bulletins.
I know u still 'tweet' and 'update ur status'
But the bulletin was
A place 4 authentic expression [via embedded videos and jpgs]

Whenever ur internet identity is so strongly linked to a social network's brand
U run the risk of being buried alive
underneath the sands of internet time
in the digital graveyard

We miss u myspace
[via not really]
It's a shame that Facebook won out
with uniform templates and cascading style sheets

It's sorta like society...
As much as u want 2 express urself,
Ultimately we need every1 to 'fall in line'
no1 is really 'that different' from 1 another

We can all only like the same kinds of things
Movies, Music, Books, Activities, Brands
U like shit, I like shit
U do shit, I basically do the same shit

Trying our best to brand ourselves [via the internet]
Making life look meaningful
Making ourselves' seem interesting
Capturing experiences 2 last 4evr on the internet.

It feels like there are 'less feelings' on the internet
Maybe every1 just grew up
Or maybe feelings existed on myspace
dark backgrounds

Miss u sweet graphics
sweet emo bands
sweet electro trash bands
embedding images on pplz profiles

Really miss u myspace
Really miss u Myspacers

Where have all the Myspacers gone?
Where have all the Myspacers gone?
Where have all the Myspacers gone?
Where have all the Myspacers gone?

Are they still 'internet famous' without Myspace?
Does internet fame last forever?
Did any myspacers take their myspace fame to other social networks like FB, twitter, or youtube or ustream?
Is Myspace a Digital Graveyard?
Who is the #1 myspacer of all time?
Do u ever see Myspacers IRL now?
Will all social networks 'die'?
What do u miss the most about Myspace?

SOOO RANDOM

OMG. I DON'T EVEN KNOW THIS GIRL BUT SHE'S SHOWING ME HER THONG-BUTT!

I DON'T EVEN KNOW THIS GUY BUT HE WANTS TO BE MY FRIEND AND HE IS A STREET MAGICIAN.

"THE INTERNET IS SOOOO RANDOM."
-uninteresting people who describe things as being 'random' [Example: "Natalie Portman was sooo random in Garden State."]

Do weird people ever friend u on social networks?
Have you ever had a casual encounter thanks 2 a social network?
Has ur EX gf/bf ever friended u?
Have u ever tugged yourself off while looking at pix of some1 that you know I.R.L.?
Is myspace better than FB? Or will Friendster always be #1 for the altiest scene mainstreamers?

BONUS STUFF THAT IS SO RANDOM

HRO posts are soo random.
Mark Hunter is soo random.
PNAU is sooo random.
Former myspacer worth blogging about, Andrew Darko, is soo random.

What else is random in ur opinion?

Myspace Bulletins are Modern Press Releases

From a Girl Talk Myspace Bulletin:

HEY, no need to reply to this, i have a hard time keeping up with myspace messages

i just wanted to say that the st. louis show was awesome, and it sucks it had to be stopped prematurely. i don't know the details of the story, but some naked guy got tazed. then they made me stop. i honestly didn't have that much more material to perform, but i thought it was unfortunate how they didn't allow me to end my own set and cut off my time on the microphone trying to arrange a post-show show. and of course, it sucks that someone got tazed for whatever reason.

on a more positive note, we ended up moving the show to a frat basement, and it ruled. thanks to everyone who helped set that up within 1 hour. i haven't jammed a basement this entire year, it was very refreshing and insane

Tools for Myspace

This self-portrait arm will enable you to take better pictures of yourself. For some people, an arm's length away isn't enough, especially if your arms are short and chubby.

I'd recommend this product for high angle shots. It will really help to emphasize your jaw line.

Italians Do It Better

One business model/record label that I think it doing a great job of penetrating the blogosphere is Italians Do It Better. They have some great bands that really sound appropriate, collectively with a disco meets modern arpeggios. Glass Candy, Mirage, and the Chromatics are great. I wonder when they're going to form a super group.

I think the Chromatics Remix of "Running Up That Hill" is one of those MP3s that is as good, if not better than the original.

MP3: Chromatics - Running up That Hill
MP3: Chromatics - Night Drive

Lana Del Rey named Myspace Artist 2 Watch. Can this erase the #LDRSNL tank job?
</embed>

Lana Del Rey used to be an indie internet meme who drove hits, but after her DISASTROUS PERFORMANCE on Saturday Night Live, she because a worldwide internet meme who drove hits to all types of blogs. Anyways, she recently released this video 'collab' with Myspace. I'm not sure what the branding strategy is with them, like if her 'team' thinks that people still 'use' Myspace, or maybe they believe it has a valuable editorial voice. Pretty sure that this video is 'getting pulled' because it 'makes her look stupid' after SNL, like she has 'BIG THANGS POPPIN' but now her career is totally on the ropes.

She says some pretty 'insane' stuff in this video, basically telling ppl 'copy ppl who u want 2 be, then become them!' Overall, the video portrays the brand that every1 now thinks is a joke, and it will be hard for any1 to take the 'gangster Nancy Sinatra' line seriously any more. Every1 is afraid that her brand is toxic, and 'liking her' will either mean that they are an overcompensatory feminist, or that they have 'terrible taste.'

It is clear that the LDR team is still living in 2k2. Will they be able to construct a time machine and travel to the 'present'?
Would they want to travel 2 the future?
Does LDR 'seem pretentious' in this video?
Is there a 'complete lack of self-awareness' [via I'M A SUPER STAR] vibe 2 her brand?
Did they 'put the cart ahead of the horse'?
Will she 'rebound' and sell mad records and be able 2 laugh at any1?
Will Lana Del Rey be on Celebrity Rehab in 2 to 7 years?
Will Myspace be able to 'recover' now that they have Lana Del Rey as an 'artist 2 watch'?
R u more worried abt Tom from Myspace or LDR from the internet buzz machine?
R u worried abt Lana, like for real, like is she alone some where and her support system is failing her?

Myspace sold 2 new company for $35 million. Will the user experience suffer?

Myspace used 2 be a relevant social networks where ppl would make kewl, colorful profiles and vibe out with their bffs. The user experience was rlly annoying, aand Facebook was chill, so every1 started using facebook then twitter was chill 2 and some ppl just vibed in 140 characters or less.

ANYWAYS some company bought Myspace 4 $35 million, which is basically a sad, sad disaster bc last time NEWSCORP bought it, it was for $580 million. I wonder where all the valur went?

Closing another chapter on one of the Internet’s most iconic properties, Myspace has been sold to to Specific Media, an advertising network, for $35 million.
Sources close to the situation said the deal is being completed today, although it has not been officially signed. Myspace’s owner, News Corp., will hold on to a very small stake of less than five percent.

Wonder if they posted a bulletin abt it 2 inform users abt the new change in mgmt.

Do twitter and facebook need 2 sell high?
Can I buy Myspace for $1k and a handjob in 2 years?
How much is a site on the internet really 'worth'?

The price is well below the $100 million that News Corp. had been hoping for, and a chasm away from Myspace’s one-time billion valuation.
The deal includes a halving of Myspace’s staff of 400, as well as other cost cuts. It’s likely Jones and other top staff will remain only for an interim period.
News Corp. bought Myspace for $580 million in 2005, and made that back via a lucrative advertising deal with Google when the social networking site was flying high.

Who the eff would buy Myspace? Do they have a pyramid scheme or something?

A Myspace deal would give the company access to data about Myspace users to be used for ad targeting. It also would transform the firm into a media company with its own ad space to sell instead of simply an online ad technology firm that brokers ad space on behalf of other websites.
Specific Media’s executive team includes knowledge of the inner-workings at Myspace, with two executives who previously worked at Fox Audience Network, News Corp.’s online advertising unit that sold ads for Myspace.
Specific Media has raised more than $110 million in funding, closing a $100 million round of financing from private-equity firm Francisco Partners in 2007. Since then, the company has acquired a couple of digital advertising companies, including online video company Broadband Enterprises and an Amsterdam ad technology company.

Who uses Myspace still?

Myspace emails all users begging them 2 come back. Will this save Myspace?

myspace dead graveyard
I was recently checking out my email account, browsing thru emails, and I couldn't help but notice an old social network had emailed me. Usually my bros at twitter and facebook email me, but I hadn't heard from myspace lately. After so many fake spam accounts friended me for like 2 years straight, had to turn off all notifications bc I couldn't figure out to deactivate my account. Anyways, Myspace emailed me, begging me to come back, and they apparently emailed every1 who hasn't logged in2 Myspace got this email.

Here is the sad email from myspace.

We've missed you at MySpace lately. Plain and simple, we think you should come back. The new MySpace provides the best social entertainment experience on Earth. For serious. You can now follow your favorite topics in music, movies, celebs and TV and get instant updates from around the web. The new Myspace gives you custom recommendations so you can discover more of what you love and connect with new like-minded friends.

For serious? Cmon Myspaces.... yall will never change [via the SPAM aesthetic]

Do u believe them?
Has Myspace 'changed'?
Is Myspace 'ovr'?
Do u feel sad 2 think that ppl still use myspace?
R u gonna go back 2 myspace?
Is Tom 'rich off his ass'?
Do u think 1 day Zuckerberg is gonna send out a sad email begging u 2 get back on Facebook?
Will Jeff Twitter send u a direct message 2 get ur ass back on twitter?
Have yall checked out the new Myspace?
Is Myspace gonna 'bounce back' and replace Facebook?

Myspace is 'completely effed', fires half of their employees

From what I understand, no1 uses myspace any more because it is 'a completely worthless' social networking site, but since there are still over 100 million 'registered users', there is still a little bit of value there. They ppl who own Myspace are 'focusing on music' trying to make their site a relevant place where bands can have websites, except it is rlly ugly and not very useful, so every1 h8s myspace.

Feel bad for the bros who were chilling hard, working for Myspace. I'm sure they had moments in the past where they were like "myspace is gonna last forever." However, it seems like they were hella wrong, as myspace continues 2 lose value every day. They got 'fired' [via George Clooney Up in the Air style] just so Myspace can lose a lil bit less money.

MySpace Inc. said Tuesday that the company has fired 47 percent of its workforce - about 500 employees - as the deposed social-networking king continues trying to mount a comeback as an online entertainment hub.

Do u think a company will be 'dumb enough' 2 purchase Myspace?
Can Myspace be 'saved' or should some1 just shut down the site and 'take it out of its misery'?
Is Myspace 'the new friendster'?
Will Twitter ever die?
Can something come along and replace Facebook/Google?

Can Myspace rlly 'reinvent itself'?
Do people really still use myspace?

MySpace has about 110 million members worldwide, a still sizable number, but a far cry from Facebook Inc., which is estimated to have close to 600 million active members.

Jones said that despite the layoffs, the company has made progress toward reinventing itself as an online destination for entertainment tailored for younger Internet users.

I wonder if Myspace should 'acquire vevo' or something [via no1 really knows why they exist, but are some how potentially making/losing money].

Do yall think Tom from Myspace is 'pissed' that no1 ever made a dramatic movie abt his life?

Will Myspace 'survive'?
When was the last time u logged in2 myspace?
Which will be more fun 2 follow: The Death of Am Appy or the Death of Myspace?

Please feel free to use the comments section 2 offer fired Myspace employees 'job offers' [via the man with the golden radio voice].

Myspace tries 2 rebrand, makes crappy new logo so that ppl will use their site again

Were yall ever a member of the popular social networking site MYSPACE? It used to be a popular place for people to friend, comment, and look at pix before facebook / twitter replaced Myspace cuz it was bulky, slow, ugly, and too customizable. So many emo/goth tweens 'pimped out' their profiles [via Thomas's Profile Editor] and it was all ugly and poopy of a website.

Every1 got on facebook and it is more chill, then alt ppl got in twitter, and they believe twitter is 'brilliant' bc it is simple. Myspace seems 'effed', so they keep trying to do shit that makes their site more like fb/twitter, but no1 rlly cares abt them any more.

The redesign, which was reportedly scheduled for mid-October (I assume it has hit some delays), has been described as the News Corp-owned social networking site’s last stand to stop the loss of users and ad revenue. (comScore reports that Twitter recently passed MySpace in traffic for the first time. And the company has seen a number of executives leave.) Chief digital officer Jon Miller said last month that the redesign is “a full swing of the bat” that will initially scare some users away.

Here is some screen cap of 'the new user interface' that is meant to provide a 'more enriching' experience for ppl who still use myspace. Should I deactivate my facebook/twitter and become a re-early myspace adopter?

Check out this sweet 'identity' work. Wonder if the new logo / new site design is going to 'save' myspace, or if it is effed. New logo is soo flexible, open 2 interpretation. Like it doesn't matter how much of an individual u r, u will always have ur own space at my _________.

Is this logo 'dumber' than the GAP's new/old logo? [link]

Do u use myspace?
Is myspace for Mexis/ african americans / azns / whites / tweens / emos / poors / Californians?
When was the last time u logged in2 myspace?
Should I purchase Microsoft Paint and become a logo designer?
Is Myspace 'totes irrelevant'?
Why did Myspace die?
Should Myspace just 'pull the plug', or are there still a few billion dollars that they can squeeze out of it?
