HIPSTER RUNOFF

Was trying to go on youtube, but everything was flipped upside down. Thought my computer was fucked up. Took it into an Apple Store for a Genius(TM) to look at. It took him a while 2 figure it out, but apparently youtube is playing some sort of joke because it is April the 1st. I wasn't actually born in the USA, so I didn't know that today is a day that u play jokes on people.

Feel kinda sad that youtube went so far 'just to get a laugh' without realizing how they could alter the reality of millions of people for days and days. Kinda feel sad about seeing important video memes, historical events, and miscellaneous videos that 'mean' something to me/the world/Americans/every1 upside down. Kinda feel like they 'are trying to say something' about society [via metaphor].

sad that youtube made me feel like an idiot. made me waste gas money going to my local Apple Store. every1 there laughed at me. felt like a real loser.

Had 2 watch a bunch of different videos upside down. Gave me a new perspective, but I would appreciate any help yall could give me to fix my Macbook. Can I press 'alt'+F4 and fix everything?

Today, O.J. Simpson will go to jail. Many people believe that he is responsible for the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. A lot of blacks don't think he did it. A lot of whites know he did it.

I remember when I was a kid, I was watching the NBA Finals, and the O.J. interrupted the game because he was in a slow speed Bronco chase with his BFF, Al Collins. It was at that moment that modern news journalism was born. O.J. Simpson used to be a sports player meme, and then he was a movie star meme, but now he was ready to be a Master Meme. A Meme around which news networks were created (Court TV, CNBC, etc.). A Meme around which journalists aligned their personal brands. A Meme around which America became "America."

This is a post about how I would like to be O.J. Simpson.

All I ever wanted to do was 'open the world's eyes' and make them think about relevant issues. While I couldn't change any one's minds, making them think, and making them discuss important topics is all that art can do. O.J. Simpson is performance art is O.J. Simpson. The Juice has helped America to examine some of the most important topics in modern society. The Law. Class systems. Racial divides. The War in Iraq. Parenting Tips. Interracial Couples. O.J. Simpson has made America what it is today.

When I saw O.J. in the courtroom today. I saw a broken man. A man who has done so much for our society does not deserve to spend his last days in prison.

O.J has inspired many meaningful memes that people are probably very proud of. For example, this is an example of modern art. You can see that the artist used modern film and video effects to convey his unique take on a complex situation.

O.J. Simpson was an inspiration.

He opened the door for Kim Kardashian's fruitful career.

He was an author and a poet.

He was a pioneer. He broke down barriers. He had a dynamic personal brand.

O.J. Simpson is one of the most important memes in the history of mankind.

O.J. changed the way we create, consume, and interpret information.
O.J. Simpson transcended objectivity and subjectivity.
O.J. Simpson challenged society's laws and norms.
O.J. Simpson polarized the world.
O.J. Simpson stood for more than just O.J. Simpson.
O.J. Simpson has had a bigger impact on your life than 99% of the people in your life.
Your life will not be as meaningful as O.J. Simpson's.

This is a film clip that represents humanity and/or society.
No filmmaker will ever make anything this relevant. No artist will make any thing as significant.

I am back home with my mainstream family. I feel so displaced coming back to suburbia. It's like I don't even have a home n e more, and I can finally relate to the theme of most indie movies made from 2000-2005.

I look across the dinner table, and wonder who these people are, and how they have forged my independent spirit. They have no knowledge of what I know and what I have seen, but some how, they made me into the person I am today. While I am thankful for my parents' support, I wish I could prove to them that I can make it on my own. I wish I could prove to them that there is a reason that I live my life the way that I do.

This will happen one day.

They see me, and they don't quite 'get' me. Perhaps they are just relieved that I am pursuing a degree. Perhaps they are relieved that I am not a 'ghey' like they probably thought I would end up being during high school. Sometimes I wish I could authentically communicate with them in the same manner that I communicate with a group of my closest friends when I am buzzed. But that will probably never happen.

Part of me longs to get this table of people who I am related to [via blood] to 'get' me, but the alternative part of me wants to stop honoring mainstream concepts like bloodlines and family.

I look around my childhood room, and I take a moment--a moment to think about how far I've come. I used to be so disillusioned/impressionable/out-of-touch-with-reality. Now I know who I am. I know what I will become. I take solace in this fact.

I am thankful for girls who show their breasts in party pix for coming from fractured families.
I am thankful for child predators who made child predator glasses possible.
I am thankful for Anthony Volodkin for creating the Hype Machine and adding value to the long tail of meaningless, crappy, terrible, unjustified, poorly written music blogs.
I am thankful for the man who invented the remix.
I am thankful for cool dads who drive Priuses.
I am thankful for free spirited moms who drive Lexus SUV hybrids.
I am thankful for free spirited moms who make 28K per year and dress like they just came out of a dumpster.
I am thankful for my blog bffs for posting a few good songs per week so that I don't have to listen to the crappy mp3s that entry level producers send me [via email].
I am thankful for street fashion bloggers for being the kind of people who 'still carry a camera around with them every where they go' (this is what people did when digital cameras came out, but now with camphones, it's a whole new landscape).
I am thankful for tumblr for taking the meme economy to a place we never thought it could.
I am thankful for people who hang out on message boards who 'have opinions.'
I am thankful for people who are trying to take their alternative personal brand to the next level.
I am thankful for Sparks for keeping me awake when I am abt 2 fall asleep at 1 p.m. every day.
I am thankful for my boss at my 'real job' not knowing what Sparks is, so that I can drink it at my desk at work.
