Phoenix
Are the Grammys honoring 'good, indie music', or is it 'the same old industry machine circle jerk'?

Yesterday was a popular awards show called 'The Grammys.' From what I understand, this awards system is supposed to 'award' the best music of the year. It seems like it is some sort of 'system to perpetuate the popularity + album sales of the same artists/labels/bands/etc.'

As I have read alternative coverage of the Grammys/all mainstream award shows, it seems like these are the 'prevalent themes.'
Indie music 'has arrived.'
The Grammys aren't 'honoring' the 'best' indie music
Indie music has been 'stolen' from 'us' and
__________ (mnstrm artist) sux
The Grammys are 'irrelevant bullshit'

Phoenix won 'Best Alternative Music Album.' Not sure what that award title means/who was in the category. I feel like maybe the French bros in Phoenix didn't realize that Americans 'get dressed up' for our awards shows. Maybe they thought it was an MTV/Nickelodeon kidz award show.

Kings of Leon won 3 Grammys for their hit song "Use Somebody", confirming that it is the vulnerable mnstrm anthem of the year/decade/century. I think they are in the genre of rock, since their award titles were 'Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group', 'Best Rock Song' and the prestigious 'Record Of The Year'.

MGMT also went to the Grammys, but they were sort of just 'nominated' and probably just looked like a 'zany one hit wonder band' to mainstreamers.

I think they also gave Stephen Colbert a Grammy just to 'get more hits/coverage.'

Here is more coverage of 'mainstream pop culture' at the Grammys.

I think this is the broad from the popular MTV show 'Jersey Shore.' I am not sure if she won a Grammy, or if she is just there for being Macrofamous.

This is apparently her live-in boyfriend, The Situation. Wonder if that show was a 'mainstream hit' or just another 'micro-sensation' like The Office.

The middle Jonas brother tries 2 'look alt' by growing strategic facial scruff + putting on sillie framed glasses.

Apparently the post-tween Jonas Brother married a guidette after the 'Jersey Shore' wave of 2k9k10. Seems ill-advised, like the same as 'marrying a pog/beanie babie/digipet.'

Popular American Idol homosexual sensation Adam Lambert.

Unpopular American Idol nonsensation Justin Guarini.

I think this crazy African American man was there because he was created as an 'off beat' character by the popular Fox TV show American Idol. Sort of like the 'Negro William Hung.'

I think the Black Eyed Peas are the last remaining soldiers in the Electro War. Like a lost group of fighters who no1 told that the war is over, but they are still on the Battlefield.

Apparently Lady Gaga had some performance with Sir Elton John.

It seems like you 'have to invite her' to any award show for the next 50 years, just to see her wear something zany.

Wonder how she transports her costumes. Suitcases? Rubermaid containers?

Popular Bro Comedy superstars from the Andy Samberg Lonely Island Viral Video Productions Centre.

I think Taylor Swift still thinks that 'awards are real.' She seems proud. As time moves forward, more people will 'sympathize' with Kanye West, sort of like the Kobe Vs. Shaq feud.

I think the Grammys is an opportunity for Cool Dads to bond with their kids.

Or for Cool Dads to just have a 'bros night out.'

Does n e 1 know if Musicians get Dental Insurance, or do they just cover their teeth with blingee jewels?

Relevant Band + Relevant Band = Relevant Remix?

[MP3]
Phoenix - Love Like a Sunset (Animal Collective Remix/Deakin's Jam)

2 of the most relevant bands of the year, Phoenix and Animal Collective 'collab' to output a remix of some song. I feel like this takes me back to the bloghouse era, when the most relevant bloghouse bands would create alt-synergy by remixing one another. We have possibly never seen a collab on this level in the history of the indiesphere. Wish I could be an entry level music criticism bro so that I could 'get pumped for hearing this mp3 for the first time' and then 'talk myself into the mp3 being 70% better than it actually is.' Would possibly create a writeup that utilized the word 'pop' in some 'descriptive' phrase like 'melted pop sensibilities.' I will also use of the word 'textural.' In addition, this theoretical writeup/review would include commentary on the state of modern indie music and the effects of 'internet hype', eventually losing focus on analysis of the actual song. My writeup would include between 5-10 hyperlinks to previous AnCo+Phoenix content that my blogsite had generated.

I feel like this remix is possibly 'forgettable', or it is possibly 'Phoenix in their natural form.' While Phoenix's songs are 'catchy', it is impossible to decipher 'what the fuck they are talking about' in their lyrics. This possibly has to do with a French to English language barrier. Imagine if u had to write 'smart-sounding' pop lyrics in a foreign language and ended up making weird/forced/generic metaphors in every1 of your songs. Phoenix has sorta turned into Jonas Brothers tween pop for hi level music criticism bros.

Sorta miss Deakin. Since most of my readership became AnCo fans after MerriweathPostPavvy, you might not know that AnCo had a fourth member named 'The Deakin' a long time ago. He 'left the band' and no1 really knows what happens. Wonder 'what really happened' to Deakin. Seems like they must be hiding something. I feel like they hand him remix work 'for sympathy' just because they feel bad, and still 'want him to feel involved.' Seems like the remixes would be better if Panda Bear made them. Does n e 1 know what happened with DeakinGate?

It seems like I would hear this song in a local coffee shop when an entry-level barista selects a playlist to try to seem 'authentic.' They would also probably play something by the Knife followed by a Fever Ray song, just to prove that they 'understand' that the broad from the Knife is Fever Ray.

Relevant Band + Relevant Band ≠ Relevant Remix

Some new film by Francis Ford Coppola
</embed>

Yall have probably heard of independent film director Sofia Coppola, who directed some of the best indie films of all time including Lost in Translation and the Virgin Suicides. What you don't know is that she has a father who is attempting to break into the movie industry. His name is Francis Ford Coppola. In his debut film Tetro, he casts authentic indie actor Vincent Gallo to play some bro who is just chillin out and being authentic. I think that the film is in black and white to try to win an Oscar, which is a tactic used by Stephan Spielbergher in the hit film Schindler's List of Bros Who Just Wanted to Live a Chill Life.

Not sure how films work since I am not a film student, but I think that this film uses old French techniques that were used to make things seem very authentic. Not sure what they are called.

does n e1 else think that Vinny Gallo is 'a genius'? Wonder what male I'd cast if I had to make a movie starring an authentic bro? Tom Hanks? Bob Downey Jr? Zach Braff? Mickey Rourke? Bruce Willis? Adrien Brody? John Heder? Mikey Cera?

Seems like he has an authentic jaw line.

Well yall... I hope that Francis Ford can live up to the high standards of his daughter Sofia. I am afraid that this is just another case of a parent riding his child's coat tails to fame, much like Lindsay Lohan's parents.

I condemn all parents who are trying to exploit the success and talents of their children. All I want is for every child to be given a fair shot at a normal life. This is a post about parenting

The Most iPod Worthy Mp3s of the past blogweek

Sorry that I am not a 'pure mp3 blog n e more.' The mp3 economy has kinda been on hiatus, except for blogger who wanted to 'get more hits' by 'posting tracks from the latest anCo/Andrew Bird album', etc. Just want to give yall stuff that's worth being on ur iPod without having 2 read like 100 other blogs.

Thnx 4 trusting me as 'a tastemaker.'
Here are 3 meaningful mp3s.

[MP3 #1]
Phoenix - 1901

Phoenix has always been good. They are from France. Their albums have generally all been 'pop that people respect because it is well-crafted', but since the mp3 economy has been so dry lately, I think there is a high demand for this kind of accessible sound, so it will probably be 'moderately overhyped' and lead people to say 'it's not THAT good.' I have always wondered how their lead singer sounds so French when he sings. Think he is married to that Lost in Translation director lady. When this mp3 'dropped', it kinda reminded me of the glory days of 2k7, when all blogs posted the same mp3 on the same day, cuz it was 'so good/relevant.' Hopefully Q2+Q3 give us more new music to blog about than Q1 did. h8 u 2k9Q1.

Friendly Fires - Skeleton Boy (Air France Remix)

I have posted the original version of this song, in addition 2 various versions of their song "PARIS." This remix is supposed to be conceptual, I think. So while I am not sure if I actively 'like' it, I think it makes sense if u have a lot of time 2 kill and need something that sounds 'different.' I think not all remixes are supposed 2 be 'dance anthems', kind of like when AnCo remixes something. But yeah, I will keep it in my iTunes library, and reflect upon how much 'new music I sample/hear because it is free [via blogforks].'

CURSES! The Deep End (Holy Ghost! Remix)
I think this song is authentic disco. I remember when the electro era was ending, music started 2 sound like this. It is an upbeat, dark, urgent jam. Holy Ghost! is a pretty authentic band, so whenever they remix something, it is probably worth listening to. [mp3 hijack via discodust]

Phoenix lets McDonalds use "Lisztomania" in a cheesy commercial
</embed>

These days, it kinda feels like indie music exists just 2 be used in commercials. Foster the People's hit "Pumped Up Kicks" kinda makes us feel like there was never really any point in the whole 'indie movement' and the boring genre has been swallowed whole by corporate America. It's a dark day now that one of the most beloved indie songs "Lisztomania" by Phoenix was used in a McDonalds commercial.

I guess we just have to accept that bands don't get paid for making music. They get paid 4 selling music 2 be utilized in sponsored experiences.

Did Phoenix get paid in free burgers and McNuggers and McFlurries?
Is this commercial a brilliant way 2 utilize the indie genre?
Does Ronald McDonald <3 Indie music?

Does this sound like Phoenix?
Was this even Phoenix?
Does everything sound the same?
Is 'indie' a huge joke now?
Do u feel like listening 2 some indie tunes and vibing out on some McDonalds?

Lead singer of Phoenix (Thomas Mars) finally getting married 2 indie director Sofia Coppola

Thom Mars is the lead singer of Phoenix. Sofia Coppola directed a bunch of indie movies that were 'respected' but now as we look back, they were sorta entry-level and gimmicky. Anyways, I think this couple already has a kid, so they are basically 'already hitched', but they are 'officially getting married' so it is probably worth a headline.

I wonder whatever happened 2 her movie 'Somewhere.' I wonder what Sofie Cops will be remembered 4: Her directorial skills, marrying indie bros, or 'totally ruining the Godfather III'.

The Somewhere director will marry longtime rocker beau, Thomas Mars, in August at her family's villa in Bernalda, which is in southern Italy.

"Yes, they are getting married and having an intimate family wedding," her rep tells PEOPLE.

The wedding, Coppola's second, will take place in the Palazzo Margherita, a 19th-century villa which the director's father, Francis Ford Coppola, has rebuilt and is renovating. The family is originally from the region, and Coppola's great-grandfather came from Bernalda.

The 40-year old director and Mars, 34, lead singer of the Grammy Award-winning band Phoenix, have two children, Romy, 4½, and Cosima, 1.

Do u think their children will grow into relevant indie humans?

Do u think they will 'last'?
Do French ppl and Italian ppl 'get along'?
Should they have been married b4 they had children?
Should she change her name 2 Sofie Mars?
Should he change his name 2 Thomas Coppola?
Do u wish u were a relevant indie celeb marrying another relevant indie celeb?

VIDEO: Daft Punk joins Phoenix on stage, seems totally pointless/lame

Every now and then, 2 bands will 'collab' on stage just to produce a bloggable meme that every1 has to blog because there is so much brand synergy that u can't 'pass it up', u have to let ur readers know that it was a meaningful experience, and if ur life was meaningful, u would have been there 2 experience it. Just read a bunch of blogs 'flipping their shit' abt Daft Punk joining Phoenix on stage. Watched like 10 minutes of shaky youtube clips trying to ascertain whether or not this was amazing/bloggable, but decided to go ahead and post it so u can have the same empty feeling inside as me.

Check out these entry levelers 'flipping their shit.' H8 collabs of bands on stage where they are clearly just trying to 'meme' and don't really ever unify their sound.

I remember back in the day, before Phoenix was mainstream and Daft Punk wasn't rlly a universal brand, I probably woulda vibed to this. Maybe in like 2k4. But c'mon. It's 2k10. Not gonna get excited about this entry-level mainstream collab going down at Madison Square Garden.

Lamestreamers on Facebook say AnCo and Phoenix are the most revolutionary bands of our generation

Facebook is a place where u talk with ppl abt life, and sometimes during life, u listen to buzzbands. U can use facebook 2 share buzzbands, memories, tag photos, and even get into a real relationships with real ppl.

Anyways, sometimes bros on facebook 'brag' abt kewl bands that they've heard. Not just sometimes, but every day. When u go 2 sleep, ppl talk abt buzzbands.

Just saw some bros talk abt Phoenix + AnCo, compare them 2 Nirvana and shit.

Some bro first brags about how he 'loves' the buzzband Phoenix, and claims they are a 'French version of the Shins.'

then some other bro is like "Oh ya, u gotta check out Animal Collective.  Just heard of the Shins, but

Then a bro is like "I listen 2 that shit when I drive around suburbia.'

Then a bro is all like "SHARE MORE BUZZBANDS WITH ME YALL"

Then an irrelevant bro recommends a shitty band. Boooring

The ultimate bro closes out the meaningful part of the convo by saying "Yes, Phoenix is pure pop brilliance... Alas... However, Animal Collective have become the greatest band of our generation.  They are kinda like our generation's Nirvana.  Panda Bear is Kurt Cobain, Avey Tare is Pat Smear, Dave Grohl is Geologist, and Deakin is the other bro.  I love indie music, and I am an authentic fan.'

*****
Really wish I had more facebook friends who were down 2 share cutting edge ideas on indie music on the Facebooks.

UNCONFIRMED RUMOR: Grizzly Bear, Phoenix, and the Strokes ‘collab’
Photo via SPIN

Just saw this picture of Edward Droste (Grizzly Bear), Thomas Mars (Phoenix) and Nick Valensi (The Strokes) hitting up a mad relevant Lollapalooza afterparty. Probably picking up premium ass, dragging them back to their hotel rooms, and 'showing them whose their indie daddy.' Just getting 'effing smashed', living the sick life of a top tier indie celeb, knowing ur albums are 'guaranteed' to get a Pitchfork 8._ AND that your band will 'sell mad units.'

Whenever I see a pic of multiple top tier indie celebs, I usually assume that they are sharing positive, collaborative vibes that will eventually manifest themselves in MP3 format. Not sure if Converse will 'throw tons of money at them' to make an MP3 together, but u can never really rule it out. Maybe Mountain Dew will try to re-brand and hire some 'real musicians' to make them a GreenWave mp3. Really just 'assuming' that they will probably go into the studio next week and hash something out 4 the indiesphere.

If I had to guess, the name of this band will be "Stroking Grizzly Bears in Phoenix, Yall."

Should these bros 'collab' to save 2k10, or should all bands stay solo because all collabs ruin brands?
Should they 'join forces' and write anthem-wave Arcade Fire rock, just to 'outsell' the Arcade Fire?
Should Vampy Weeks and Arcade Fire 'collab' just to go head 2 head with this new super group?
Do yall feel like the indie wars are 'heating up'?

From what I have seen on twitter, these bands were the 'winners' of Lollapalooza. Many 'auth alts' opted to see The Strokes over Lady Gaga, Phoenix over Green Day, and in the biggest indie head2head battle, many alts were spotted 'leaving the XX stage early' to 'get a Grizzly Bear spot.' Not sure if people vibe hard to eyeball fucking any more, or if The XX is sorta creeping out opportunities 4 a tween fan base.

Which of these bands will have the biggest 2k11?
Will these bros no longer be bros in 2k11, when their albums are 'going head 2 head'?
If u were an alternative celebrity, what 'perk' would u abuse the most?
Should all bands collab just to synergize brands and capitalize on market forces.

Mainstream sports bros have facebook convo abt kewl new band called PHOENIX

It seems like Phoenix is 'the most mainstream indie band in the world', possibly right behind the Arcade Fires. A few mainstream sports bros had a sweet facebook convo about a band called Phoenix. Have yall heard of them? Are they too underground for ur bro brand, or has Phoenix gone 'more mainstream than ever'?

It seems like a college bro first starts out the convo by saying he 'aced' his calculus class, and is vibing out to Phoenix until it is time to drink brews and watch live sports.

Then a confused bro is like 'Huh? Phoenix? Is that the guy from Linkin Park's solo project?'

College bro sends out a youtube link to the hit Phoenix song "1901."

Linkin Park bro is then like "Oh ya... heard that shit on the NHL 2k10 video game, bitches."

Finally, a totally alt sports bro chimes in and says "Matt and Kim is waay better than Phoenix, yall."

How do u feel about sports bros knowing about Phoenix [via video games]?
Do u ever get indie bands mixed up with Linkin Park?
Are sports bros the 'silent consumers' or indie music?
Are sports bros 'the next generation' of cool dads?
Do bands reach new audiences when they license their music to video games + movies + commercials?
Should Phoenix put out a new album so they can outsell Vampire Weekend?
Will Phoenix's next album sell more albums than the Arcade Fire, or are they 'too French'?

Anyways, facebook is also a place where mainstreamers talk about indie buzzbands. Due to social networking buzz, tons of previously undiscovered buzzbands are getting 'tons of coverage.' Here is another example of some mainstreamers talking about the 'totally indie' band Phoenix

It seems like mainstreamer #1 found out about Phoenix from MTV.
then mainstreamer #2 was like 'nah bro, heard about them on the OC [via California here come]'
then mainstreamer #1 was like 'oh i feel rlly mainstream. do u know any other good bands'
then mainstreamer #2 got in a time machine and said 'the shins and modest mouse kill it.'

2 mainstreamers have Facebook wall-2-wall convo about new buzzband named “Phoenix”

Facebook is a popular social network that 99% of people in the Western World utilize. After the World Cup in South Africa, more Africans will probably get on facebook/twitter just to be able to find out what is buzzing outside of their microvillages. The facebook web tool is something that u can use 2 talk with ur friends, tag photos, and even 'sext' if u have mobile settings activated.

N e ways....It seems like 2 lamestreamers / mainstreamers on the facebook have started 2 use the tool to share kewl new buzzbands. In the following screen grab, u can see that one friend 'recommends the kewl new band called Phoenix' to another lamestreamer.

It seems like 1 friend tries to recommend songs, but the titles are 'so far out' that the other mainstreamer gets confused.

Then the mainstreamer realizes 'oh ya, heard all that shit on vh1.'

Then they both say they 'listen to Phoenix when they wake up' to start the day with positive buzzband vibes.

Seems like Phoenix is 'the ultimate pop music', with sounds that every1 can relate to, and a 'French pop brand' that every1 is programmed to think is 'totally buzzworthy.' Really just wish I could be a mainstreamer who was still 'excited to hear new music'--feel like I have already 'mastered' the 'art of the buzzband harvest' and there aren't many genuine thrills abt it any more. Sofia Coppola makes crappy new indie movie, puts her husband's song in trailer [via Phoenix]
</embed>

Sofia Coppola made 'one great indie movie' back before every1 realized that Garden State, The Royal Tenenbaums, and Lost in Translation all actually 'set back the art of filmmaking' at least 20-50 years. She made Lost In Translation, a semi-autobiographical film where she 'gets railed' by an old guy (Bill Murray). Not sure that the movie actually 'said anything' but it was 'deep' and it was 'set in Japan' and Bill Murray 'acted deep and disconnected', so it was a 'critical success.' She has also made a few other indie films that appeal to empty indie broads who need to buy 'cool looking movie posters' for their rooms.

N e ways, Sofia Coppola is married to Thomas Mars, the French guy from Phoenix. She used Phoenix's song "Love Like a Sunset" in her new trailer for the upcoming hollow indie film Somewhere. Movie seems 'absolutely boring.' Seems to be about a bro actor dad who has to take care of his daughter when he could be focusing on things like 'being a bad ass bro' and 'fucking hot bitches.'

Sorta boring. Feel like maybe she shoulda cast Miley Cyrus / Demi Lovato in this movie if she wanted it to make mad bank.
Not really digging the Phoenix favoritism. Bet he probably gets 'mad soundtrack royalties' to feed their family. Not sure if this is fair. Not sure if studios should still make 'indie films.' They should probably just invest in Avatar / Toy Story 3D type of movies.

First trailer for the new film directed by Academy Award Winner Sofia Coppola
Plot: A hard-living Hollywood actor re-examines his life after his 11-year-old daughter surprises him with a visit.
Starring: Stephen Dorff, Elle Fanning, Michelle Monaghan and Benicio Del Toro
Release Date: December 22

Kinda scared of Dakota Fanning's lil sister, Elle Fanning.

Sorta wonder what went wrong with Spike Jones and Sofia Coppola's marriage. Maybe Spike Jonze loves to work with the Arcade Fire so much because he wants them to sell more records than Phoenix.

Do yall like indie movies?
Do yall like film?
Is Sofia Coppola a 'great American director'?
Did phoenix have to give her their song 4 free?
Does this movie look like it will change ur life?
Is Love really 'like a sunset'?
Will Thomas Mars and Sofia Coppola get divorced in the next 5 years?

FACEBOOK WALL-2-WALL STATUS UPDATE CONVO

Facebook is a popular social network where people have obnoxious convos to brand themselves as 'cool.' It seems

Their convo first starts off with 'disbelief' that Phoenix, an 'indie band' was played on the mainstream radio.

The second phase of their conversation documents their 'relief', as they have already experienced the band live, making sure that they comfort one another since one of their fave bands is now mainstream. Tickets will be limited now that 'every1 knows abt them.'

In the epic third act of their conversation, they compliment one another's taste in music, branding their taste together, letting people know that they share meaningful indie music experiences together. They sort of 'let go' of Phoenix at this point, knowing that they are no longer an undiscovered buzzband any more.

Phoenix does 'half assed' remix of Grizzly Bear, asks users to play 2 youtube videos at same time

Phoenix did a 'remix' of Grizzly Bear's hit anthem "Foreground", but they didn't really do anything. They basically just asked people who went to their webpage to 'play these two youtube videos at the same time, then sort of adjust the levels until it sounds okay.' Not sure if this counts as a 'real remix.' I am not sure if Phoenix understands that just because they sold 'mad crossover albums' it doesn't mean that they can just half ass a remix.

A long time ago Grizzly Bear asked us to remix one of their tracks, but we never found the boldness to mess with their beautiful songs.
So the other day we figured, maybe if we combine great things together (Grizzly Bear, Eno, chance), it would create something good.

I N S T R U C T I O N S
1. Press play on either player
2. After an indefinite number of seconds, press play on other player
3. You can create your own mix by adjusting the volume on either player
4. If it's good : enjoy, if it's bad : try again !

Feel like this is a 'huge ripoff' and they Phoenix just wanted an excuse to 'half ass' their remix. I don't really 'buy' the 'We don't want to ruin a Grizzly Bear song' excuse, because that's what makes remixes so exciting: the opportunity to hear a song that was once good get 'totally ruined.' Living on the edge makes the best remixes 'worth it'--the thrill of the chase for a relevant co-branding of authentic buzz artists. It can go s00 wrong, but also s00 right.

A remix basically means 'free MP3 for ur iPod', so any time I read a blog headline involving 'remix' feel like I need to leave the post with a new MP3 on my computer. Feel like Phoenix 'really fucked every1 over.'

Is Grizzly Bear too perfect to remix?
Do u think Grizzly Bear paid Phoenix and deserves a refund?
Is Phoenix saying that Neon Indian 'ruined' Grizzly Bear by remixing them?
Will Phoenix release a mashup album, except it is just a webpage with youtube embeds?
Do u think this was a 'kewl, fun idea' or r u 'mad pissed'?
Did u 'lose respect' for Phoenix, or will their songs always be 'poppy' enough to be liked?

Choir of Innercity Kids do 'meaningful cover' of Phoenix
</embed>

"Lisztomania" by Phoenix was arguably the most meaningful song of 2009 if you didn't 'get' Animal Collective / "My Girls." The song has a massive 'crossover appeal', and continues to move mad units on iTunes and Best Buys all around the world. In this video, an innercity chorus sings the song in a meaningful fashion, looking to inspire 'hope'

It seems like we can assume that all of these children come from difficult life situations, and are using music to 'escape' temporarily from their despair / status frustration. U can see by their over-gesticulation that they either truly 'get' the message of the song, or their teacher has convinced them that they will all get record deals if they sing with their hearts.

Is Phoenix no longer an 'indie' band?
Are they finally the 'pop' band that indie purists always though they should be?

This childrens choir has 'mad connections' to the mainstream indie industry, since they once collaborated with Passion Pit / were hired as the backup children's choir on their album.

Are children's choirs the future of indie music?
Will Justice's "D.A.N.C.E." always be the best utilization of a children's choir?
Does Phoenix's Lisztomania make u feel like u can achieve anything?
Were "1901" and "Lisztomania" both critically overrated since the lyrics 'don't really mean anything'?
Should I 'teach for America' and bring innercity/poor kids a taste of relevant alt culture?

Video: Phoenix Interviewed by Jersey Shore’s Snooki

</embed>
Jersey Shore was a popular 'Guido Show' on the MTV Television Network which built a solid fan base of 'people who couldn't believe this disgusting subculture existed.' After the show's success, the network and the stars of the show wanted to 'stay in the lime light', so they shipped the uninformed cast members to the Grammys to conduct interviews. In this web video, the popular character Snooki, who was known for being small, dumb, orange, and slutty, interviews the Grammy Winning mindie band Phoenix. The French bros are generally 'baffled' by this human Snooki, but probably just think she is 'another stupid American.'

Snooki asks the band 'What kind of music they play?' They tell her that they are a 'rock band', unwilling to go into the complexities of the evolving indie genre.

In this clip, you can watch as humans from two completely different cultures 'collide.'

Do u think Snooki should start an indie music blog?
Are French ppl smarter than Americans?
Is MTV generating 'better/more compelling content' than most blogs/music sites?
