Ryan Adams has a effectively coBranded himself with a little bit of quirky Southern Dressiness. That’s why I can’t really handle it when AltBags choose to simulate the Ryan Adams aesthetic. I feel like implementing the Ryan Adams aesthetic is kind of like the alternative equivalent of when mainstreamers put on a white or blue button-down ‘going out’ shirt and some frayed wide-legged jeans + funnie shoes.

These specialized altBags attempt to take advantage of their small frame, defined jaw, long-ish hair, and the opportunity to ‘dress more authentic than alts who wear American Appy.’ The Southern aesthetic is often a misused branding tool for people who are in search of conveying authenticity.

Or maybe just the standard model of the AltBag, which comes in the Tragic McHumbleVainBag model (whose parents still support him financially because without their money, he wouldn’t be able to live in the authentic part of town + have a meaningful lifestyle).

This video for Ryan Adams’ “Follow the Lights” makes me wonder when he will be freed of the “traditional duties” as a popular musician, and be able to do whatever he wants. This video incorporates some ABC family drama show into it.

I feel incredibly comfortable with Ryan Adams releasing EPs, LPs, and free web MP3s whenever he wants.

Chicago is a mecca of everything that is hipsterdom. Located in the middle of the country, it is a city worth writing a song about. Some people love New York, others love LA. Chicago may or may not be a city worth loving, too. If you are a band, you will stop there, though. They have a scene for every one.

I remember seeing Ryan Adams live in Austin earlier in the summer.
It was a pretty ideal scene, in yupster elite Austin. Everyone with scalped tickets.
I read a review in the Austin American Statesman blog the next day that was a totally different experience than I lived through.

If you’re a Ryan Adams fan, you’re going to love the concert, and it’s pretty much something you have to do. He brings life to songs that you might have skipped over (especially on “29″). Cold Roses tracks are great to hear live, then he’ll play something off “Demolition” and you feel special, or whatever.

Anyways, pay whatever it takes to see Ryan Adams if you really like the dude, and have followed him.
