Sexton Blake
Lately I've been really into pop songs about love.

I blogged about Sexton Blake a little while ago, and there was a HUGE comment backlash, where people claimed that Sexton Blake was sooo old, and had already 'broken through' on to the Billboard Top 100, and every1 had been listening 2 Sexton Blake since early 1997, when the iPod Shuffle Beta Minidisc was first released.

Anyways, through research by reading comments on my own blog, I have found out that STARFUCKER is apparently the former band Sexton Blake.

I enjoy the song "FLORIDA" that joelirwin@iheartcomix posted some time last week.

Please take note: HRO only posts songs that HRO likes, not particularly focused on 'breaking new mp3s', which I why HRO posts so many pictures of slutz, AZNs, and/or slutz with bangz, or even AZNs with bangz who are slutz.

Does enjoying Sexton Blake/Starfucker mean that I prefer 'Portland Concept Pop' over 'Swedish Pleasant Pop'?

Bette Davis Eyes

Lately, whenever an artist has done a cover of another song, I dismissed it as 'Some ass hole trying to break through on HypeMachine." I think some band covered the top song on ELBO.WS for a month or two. It was pretty STUPID.

Anyways, KNICKEN posted about Sexton Blake a while ago, and I was pretty into a few of their covers. Mainly "Young Turks" by Rod Stewart and "Bette Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes.

Here's the video for the original BETTE DAVIS EYES, which certainly sounds like a lot of the crap I listen to now:

Anyways, Sexton Blake does a pretty good job of adapting the song to make it their own lofi-indie-rock version. It executes the sound of 'what I listened to before I started listening to too much dance music' in an approachable way.
