Listening to Spoon, reflecting on my indie past...

[MP3]
Spoon Got Nuffin

I am listening to the band Spoon. They have a new song, and I think that it 'sounds very good', but I think for the most part they have 'always sounded very good.' I feel like Spoon is a band from 'a long time ago'--like back when teens at the turn of the century were 'deciding to be indie', they often used SPOON as a goto band for 'connecting with 1 another.'

Since then, I think Spoon has 'consistently released a quality product', because I think they are 'good musicians/producers' and I think that the lead singer bro has 'an authentic voice.' For a while, I think I would have called people who like Spoon 'entry level alts', or possibly 'mainstreamers who like maltstream products', but now I think I will just start listening to songs like this, and reflecting on my past. Just don't have enough time on this Earth to h8 on people just because they like bands that a product that 'can appeal 2 any 1.' [via the MGMT theory]

Think I've really grown up a lot, and my taste has really evolved into something very authentic, if I am willing to consider 'shitting upon' Spoon just bc they have 'been around for like 100 blog years.'

MONDAY MUSIC

It's Monday. You can't listen to dance music 7 days a week.
Time for some thing different to start your week.

Did you watch Spoon on SNL? Or did you not last past another crappy edition of Weekend Update?

Spoon: I Haven't Given Them A Chance in a While

I remember back in high school, when a lot of my friends had a line from Spoon's "EVERYTHING HITS AT ONCE" in their AIM profiles. It was "I go to sleep and think that you're next to me."

Britt Daniel is sooo Austin.

I never gave "Gimme Fiction" much of a chance, but what I've heard from "GA GA GA GA GA GA GA" sounds pretty good.

New Spoon Album seems sweet.

Old Spoon

Remember before Spoon was on MTV2 in some weird video?
I'm glad they are successful though. A very talented band with what seemed like good people when I last saw them 6 years ago.

Spoon plays ultra boring song on Kimmel, Bradford Cox shows up for some reason
</embed>

I think Spoon has released some semi-relevant albums, and usually make a new one every few years. They are one of the many forefathers of indie rock who have morphed into 'cool dad' rock with a 78% crossover appeal to older 'rock n roll fans.' From what I understand, they have a new album. I think they get a lot of support because they have fans who 'still actually buy albums.'

Saw this live performance of "Who Makes Your Money" on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I wonder if this song 'sounds good on the album' but possibly 'doesn't translate well' to live TV. Felt boring. I feel sad for potential fans that they could have reached, but didn't really play something that sounded warm and approachable. This seemed too 'ambient and conceptual' for mainstream fans.

Not sure why Bradford Cox was on stage. Maybe he is still trying to plug Atlas Sound's album LOGOS. Seems like they were really just bro-ing down on stage, playing their guitars with shit eating grins.
Is Spoon an authentic band?
Is the new Spoon album worth illegally downloading?
Does n e 1 know if this is just a case of the 'sound guys' ruining the 'levels'?

Is it time for Spoon to 'go on hiatus', then 'pull a Pavement' and come back when their stock is high?
